Woohoo launch control actually works.
Now that I have the TPS, it seems launch control works. I also wired a switch inline of the clutch switch, now I can turn it on and off too! Took me like a hour because itso damn cramped under the dash.
My settings are -10 degrees at 3200 rpm, I build about 4 psi that way. |
Yeah launch control is pretty fun though the novelty wears off after a while.
Ok not really, I still love it. |
I really need to figure out why mine isnt working.

I wish I had more run ins with modified cars... I beat a wrx up to 110 by like 5 car lengths... looked like he had a FMIC, BOV, exhaust and who knows what else. and that was with 2 ppl in my car. |
Launch control - I don't use it because I don't like the way it bounces off the rev limit so hard. I was hoping it would just hold at that rpm. Is this the case for you?
|
Did you try playing with the method of cut? I tried it ONCE on fuel cut and it was very smooth, but I did not want fuel only as it was obviously running pretty lean on launch control. Spark only is rough and loud, but it keeps me nice and rich. I never got around to playing with spark and fuel cut combined but maybe you could work it out to be smoother.
|
i run cats on my cars so spark only is not an option. i messed a lil bit with fuel & spark cut but after a few attempts i am usually just annoyed and say fuck it. probably for the best anyway since one car is at the power level to break things easily and the other has a clutch right at the cusp of complete failure(already slips sometimes if i have a passenger over 95 lbs)
I do enjoy me some flat shift though |

If you have a 95.5 with cruise control installed and wired in the launch control trigger from the factory wiring for the clutch interlock switch... Thats why its not working. I fought with my car almost a week until I figured out the problem. Cruise control uses that interlock switch, along with a brake switch. Checked the resistance on that line with the clutch and brake released came out to about 300 ohms. Depressed clutch it should have gone to open circuit, instead I got 270 ohms.. Depressed the brake along with teh clutch and it dropped to 30 ohms. My wiring diagrams didn't indicate they were wired together, but I never did get it figured out. Planned on installing an arming switch on the dash and a microswitch on the clutch pedal just for launch control. Instead I ended up installing the momentary contact switch in the center console by the shifter along the side. My car is still N/A but that location works perfect for me. Place the car in gear with the clutch depressed, hold the switch and pin the throttle open -- Once I let out on the clutch just release the switch. Plus that allows you to play with things.. you know, go in and set the hard limit to 3000rpm and cut spark only.. Get the engine rolling around 3500rpm with constant throttle, hit that switch and count about 3 seconds until you blow a massive fireball out the exhaust. :bowrofl: (still have to get that one on video..) |
once again, 95.5 FTMFL

Launch control is cool. I have mine dialed pretty good, at the drag strip a few weeks ago I had a brand new viper off the line, which was cool, but that did not last long lol.
|
I have it set for spark cut at 3300 rpm. -10 degrees timeig retard at 3000 rpm.
When I floor it the engine bounces between 3000 and 3400 rpm... like broom broom broom broom broom with each broom a half a second apart haha. It makes about 4 psi this way, and when I launch it it usually spins for a sec then it catches and shoots off. Sometimes it over does it and spins too much haha, depends on the surface I guess. I gotta take it to the track... |
My question is, who is actually hooking up with launch control? I set it to 2200 with SLICKS and I still got absolutely no traction. Originally was 10psi but now up to 15psi. As of now, my launch control is pure novelty.. When it works. Thats another thing, it only works sometimes, not always. Haven't had the time to look into that one.

It's good for doing U turns from a standstill! :)

And correction, it bounces between 3200 and 3300 rpm. |
What is your regular boost psi?

Also I have the stock suspention so I get alot of squat. |
Hmm so even at WOT on launch control, the boost never exceeds 4psi? I definitely need to play with mine, because mine jumps right up to 15psi and stays right there.
Just checked, I have mine set to retard 5deg. I'll try changing that this weekend. :x: |
Cut spark and you could probably reach 20psi....
I see the same 4-5psi....but if you watch how so I'm adding/subtracting fuel you can kinda see why...as opposed to someone using spark cut. spark cut: |
So you are running just fuel cut, not fuel and spark?
