any good reason not to mount the pump under the car?

I was thinking of mounting it underneath the trunk floor, It would help ensure a good fluid supply by keeping it low underneath the tank, and save trunk space.

It seems like there is plenty of room, on my car without it being too close to the exhaust, or being to low and vulnerable to damage. Can the pump handle being exposed to the elements?

I am still waiting on my DO kit, unfortunately.

I don't see a problem really, but personally with you being in CT i would want a box or something to keep salt and other things like that off/out of it. Otherwise i think it's a good idea. Some of the guys have either put them in their fender well or plan to do so.

the "normal" mounting point is just at the fuel filter...it should be covered by a plastic shroud....shouldn't be harmed....

^Hum, I didn't think there would be enough room in there, but then I have yet to lay eyes on my pump.

The pump is pretty small. I bet it would fit.

ha, i was thinking fuel pump...but hmmm, it could probably fit up there by the fuel filter....i don't see anything wrong with that.

I think I would still try and mount it in the trunk or under the tin behind the seats.

trunk floor mount over the jack is the easiest with the tank on the back wall of the trunk. I debated bottom mount but the pump isnt sheilded terribely well and would probably suffer some damage if exposed to the elements permanetly

I will have a better idea what I want to do when the kit arrives, I want to put the tank by the jack, and if I mount the pump upside down to the tin by the gas tank, it will be higher than the water tank, although I guess thats not the end of the world.

My pump arrived a few days ago, it looks too big to put near the fuel filter. I picked up some Tupperware for a few bucks at walmart to use as an enclosure for an under car mount. I figure I will vent the box to inside the trunk to make sure the pump can't overheat.
