Brass Check Valve-A little heads up
 

I had to repalce my plastic check valve due to failure. So, Devils Own sent me the new brass cv(thanks WOT) as a replacement. There is an arrow that points in a direction, my thinking was that the arrow point in the direction of flow, mine is actually opposite. The arrow on mine needs to point away from the nozzle.

I had to find out the hard way. I hooked it up, arrow with flow, and the car began to sputter and idle really bad....The vacuum from the motor was sucking the water into the intake at idle....DOH!

Reversed the CV and all is fixed....Juts a heads up!

Think i heard about this problem on one other car as well, thanks for the warning though now I def won't forget it. Sure is a way better looking piece isn't it.

I need to get with Chance at Devils Own on this one. So far I have personally seen 3 versions of the new check valve. Thanks for the heads up.

Howdy, these check valves can only be put together on the inside 1 way. So the internals can't be swaped around.

I believe some debri got caught in the seat and was allowing a leak. This is why ours can be pulled apart and cleaned if needed. Usually putting them in backwards will remove the debri. Try installing it the way the arrow is pointing towards the nozzle. If its still not worken right I would recomend taking it apart and looking for dirt in the seat or we can get you another.

OK, I applied vacuum to the checkvalve from the nozzle side. A mere 5hg of vacuum causes the check valve to open and leak. I remember I checked the little older style plastic CV the same way before I installed it, and it held tight all the way up to 30hg. The vacuum from the motor is sucking the valve open on the brass unit, causing the fluid be sucked into the intake. I took the fitting apart, cleaned around the ball and spring, checked the seat, no debris. Put it back together and it did the same thing. Do I need another?
