Couple of WI Install questions

http://mx5nutz.drmryan.co.uk/forum/s...s/1/spacer.gif
Hi Guys,

My WI kit arrived today. http://mx5nutz.drmryan.co.uk/forum/s...ault/smile.gif

99% of the kit is there but i need a few bits and bobs, so i set off on my quest http://mx5nutz.drmryan.co.uk/forum/s...ault/smile.gif

I've been driving around Athens for the past 2 hours trying to find a bloody shop that sells the push type connection used for the water pipe.
No joy http://mx5nutz.drmryan.co.uk/forum/s...efault/sad.gif
Its looking like i'll need to order some of these connections, as i need to order them i'd like to know if there is anything else i need to add.

The kit is a Devils own base kit, with a Aquamist HSV and 4 jets.

I'll be mounting the 4 jets on the intake manifold eventually, but for the next few weeks i plan on mounting 1 jet pre SC and 1 jet at the intake of the manifold.

From what i know so far, i'll be using only the Devils own pump, the connecting the Aquamist HSV to my EMU to control the amount injected.
Thing is i've searched around and have a few questions.

Firstly,
How is the pressure of the pump controlled?

On the Aquamist 2c kit, which is the kit i'm trying to emulate, it has a Single channel manifold
Does this control the pump pressure?
Will it work with the Devils Own Pump?

Any other pointers much apprciated http://mx5nutz.drmryan.co.uk/forum/s...ault/smile.gif

Cheers
Mark

the devils own pump the pressure is adjusted by a allen screw on the top of the pump, for pump max pressure.

Thanks for the quick response mate :)

So i don't need anything else then, phew.
Do you know what they pressure they are set to at the factory?

I'll run tank, pump, HSV, check valve, splitter, jets, be interesting to see how much timing i can claw back :)

donnu depends just jumper the pump and go for a mist of 7 or so inches wide and this willbe around 75-80 psi through a nozzle of 176cc min or so. i dont use the same nozzle measurement on my older kit so just do the conversion to your units. from there with 2 nozzles at say 10 psi of boost you should be ok. remembet to put the HSV close to the second nozzle.

I was thinking of doing the same thing but I have a question about it that I can't figure out. When (on what cylinder) does the emanage (blue or ultimate also I guess) fire the aux injector? If it fires with a particular injector/cylinder, then how does an even amount of water get to all 4 cylinders? I know this only matters if you run a low duty cycle, but how low is too low? I dunno.

I think you'd be better off running the HSV off a fixed frequency PWM output and sizing the nozzles so that you are running the valve close to 100% duty cycle.

On the EMU, the Sub Injector can be set in one of two modes.

First, you can slave it to one of the main injector channels. So if you have a '90-'90 the selections are "CH-1" and "CH-2" and if you have a '94+ you also have "CH-3" and "CH-4".

The other mode is simply labeled "RPM". Like everything else on the eManage there's not much more info than this, so I'm not sure exactly but I assume that's one firing per IGN pulse. Given that the HSV is quoted as being capable of 250Hz, that's probably the way to go as it will give you the most even firing. 250Hz IGN = 7,500 RPM on a 4 banger.

Thanks guys,

Ordered a few extra bits, (splitters etc) waiting for them to arrive then i'll install.

I'm looking to use the stock washer bottle, and mount the pump underneath it around here:

Pretty sure i'll find the same as you guys, the washer bottle is to small, but i'll give it a go first, if it is, i do have a bit of room to go for a slightly bigger tank in that location.

Will be mounting the 3 0.3,, jets here:

Washer bottle might last 13 minutes of boosted driving man. Seriusly just get a bigger tank. If you realy insist on using the washer bottle dont go to far and have some more mix with you to refill it, and check it periodically.

I'm averaging around 33 litres per fill up, what does the washer tank hold 2 litres?

I'm looking inject 10% water/Meth after 4psi.

In theory it should easily last between fill up's, are you finding your using more water.

What setup are using, and what boost level are you starting to inject from?
Lastly what sort of tank size do you recommend?
I know a Go-Kart racer so Joe's Go-Kart fuel tank seems a great idea, i'm just not sure if a lot bigger tank will fit in the engine bay.

And i'm worried about air pockets in the line when cornering, if i fit the tank in the boot.
Also can't see how i can get the pump under a large tank.

I trust your judgement, as every single other time you've given me advice you've been spot on, i'm just naturally inquisitive :)

No wories Mark, i use a 1.5 gallon tank wich would be about 6 liters. I run a bit more water than you maybe 17% by volume and spray from 4 psi onward as well but with my normally enthusiastic driving i can run the whole tank down in about 45 minutes. of boosted driving wich can be 45 miles is i stay in a low gear or 90 miles if i stay in 5th and still wanna be real fast. you do the math. The pump does not have to be under it just lower than it. my pump is about 1/2 of an inch lower than the tanks. Air pockets should be a nominal issue if you tap on the bottom corner as i did also a peice of methanol rated fuel cell faom should help with any sloshing issues as well. here are a few pics of how i did it you might garner some ideas from them. the line runs from the converted gas can to a Tee fitting wich has one end going to the pump and the other to my kit supplied tank. From there the pump feeds me pressurized methanol water mix. via a simple on/off switch. The lag is minimal at best. And this still leaves your trunk some what useable for grocerrys etc.

http://coolingmist.com/detailmain.aspx?pid=ShurTank there is also this as well 1.5 gallons of carefree boosting.

Great info thanks.

Nice clean set up you've got there.

That tank seems perfect,
Just went to order 1 but it's $60 postage :O

So i think I'll go with Joe's idea of a Go-Kart tank.
I would really prefer to keep the tank in pump in the engine bay though, as it's pretty tight now fitting my fishing/boating stuff in the boot.

If i can get a tank that last between fill up's even when pushing it i'll be a happy camper :)

Thanks for the help and info.

Cheers
Mark
