DO Fluid Level Switch?
 
Has anyone installed one of these?

I received mine without the nut nor real instructions. According to the description, all I have to do is drill a small 1/8" hole, but it looks to me like the threaded part needs to go inside the tank and that part is more like 1/2".

Also, would the nut rust when it's inside the tank?

Description of Fluid level switch

Fluid level switch can easily be mounted in your alcohol/water tank. You just drill a hole and slip it threw the tanks opening. It features a 1/8" NPT Male fitting, So this is a small hole to drill. Attach this fluid sensor with the supplied lock nut and seal with clear RTV adhesive silicon not supplied.

Can be used with our controller as a warning system, Connect this level switch to the chassis ground with one of it's wires and the other to the pumps ground wire. When the level drops the fault light on the controller will activate when the system sees your start point of boost. Or this can be wired to an led light.

Sorry about the delay in getting you an answer Chuck. I am still waiting on one from Devils Own.
I would tap your hole 1/8" npt and thread the switch in. I think on most tanks you would have almost no chance of being able to reach in the reservoir and start the nut let alone tighten it.

I just used permatex on mine to make it water tight. Its not going anywhere.

NP Kelly. I just wanted to make sure I got this right before I start drilling holes. So the threaded part is the part that gets screwed into the tank? If so, I'll just have to start drilling a small hole and use bigger drill bits as I don't have any NPT bits. Again, that 1/8" NPT looks more like 1/2" in diameter.

I'll also get some Permatex, thanks Neo.

At least I figured out how to wire the LED to come on when the WI pump is activated. lol Let's see if I can figure out how to wire the fluid level.

Wiring Help
 
Ok, I looked at this diagram again and I'm scratching my head.

Here's what I have so far. I followed the diagram to wire an LED to go on when the WI is activated - that was easy.

Now, what I want to add is an LED to light when the fluid level is tripped. Maybe even a switch on the dash so I can turn off the pump whenever I wanted to manually.

Now how would I wire that? Thanks guys.

the wire on top has positive voltage and the wire on the bottom goes to ground source when the lever is up no current is flowing, when it is down current flows this allows what ever safeguard the system has to light up or stop pumping etc.

So one of the wires goes to any ground.

The other wire goes to a 470 ohm resistor, then goes to a 12v power supply.

If I want the ability to turn off the WI pump with a switch manually, I cut the GREY (or either wire?) wire on the pressure switch and connect to a (toggle ) switch?

I am unsure about the wire color scheme but the theory you put through is correct.

I just heard back from Devil's Own. Yup, that should have said 1/2" NPT.

OK, I just wired it up quick and dirty and it works. So as soon as I get the LEDs from superbright LEDs, I'll finish the wiring.

The LEDs I got from Radio Shack didn't seem bright enough in daylight so I ordered the "brightest" LEDs from superbright LEDs.

It works, it works!

I used a blue LED for the pump activation and a flashing red for the fluid level switch. I also ordered a green LED just in case. FYI, the green is the brightest with blue being next and red the least bright. But, they are all brighter than the RS LEDs so they are clearly visible in my peripheral vision.

Oh and the LEDs are mounted in the 3 gauge DIN panel between the gauges.

I don't drive much at night, but if it's too bright at night, I'll connect a toglle switch for the LEDs.

And thanks to Kelly and everyone else who answered my stupid questions. I actually learned a lot about resistors, diodes, etc. and I can almost read a simple electrical diagram.

When I start the car after it's been sitting for a while, the Aquamist will (I think) do a quick prime to see if there's water/pressure available. I tried this last night in the garage and man that blue LED is BRIGHT! IIRC, the LEDs from superbright LED has 10x the brightness as the RS LEDs.

I think I'll add that toggle switch now. lol
