EZ question: Where can I get a tap locally?
I need a M8 x 0.75 tap for my aquamist nuzzles. I don't have one.
Where the fuck can I find one? Like today. What store or type of store would have these? fuck |
expensive little shits
http://www.amazon.com/Dormer-High-Sp...8334047&sr=8-6 maybe take it to local machine shop, proly cost u similar price |
Harbor frieght maybe, although don't expect them to last.
Keep this in mind: If they're cheap taps, they're probably only good for very thin material and chasing threads If they're expensive taps, they're good for cutting new threads in anything over .25" or so. |
A: Look in the yellow pages under "Tools".
B: HF, as Curly said. You'll have to buy a whole assortment, but they're not totally useless. While I do own a couple of "good" taps for holes I use a lot (1/8 NPT, 1/4-20, etc) I also have a large HF set for "just in case" situations, and I've yet to break one. Just go real easy on 'em, use lots of cutting fluid, back the tap frequently, etc. C: Here: http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?P...PMPXNO=3904806 I use these guys a lot for hard-to-find drills and such. Quality is usually middle-of-the-road. Better than HF, not quite Craftsman / Kobalt / whatever. |
I need to find a local place with left-handed taps. Can't find none either. My endlink turnbuckle stripped dammit.
|
Also, how far much of the tap should I drive into the hole? Until the flat part of the tap?
|
Check your local Ace Hardware.

Call the Ace hardware like what Chriscar said and if they don't have it, they know where to get them from.

fairfax auto parts has taps. but that's an hour drive.
There is an MSC in Baltimore. There is a Grainger in Baltimore. Baltimore has fucking smokestacks. It's an industrial town. |
OK this has not been EZ after calling around places for the past 3 hours I have failed to find this tap.
Called ACE (only has metric), harbor freight (only has mbsp), grainger (has to order them), and msc (has to order them), sears (don't have). Sucks. I'm just going to order the damn die from amazon. I might just give up on my whole individual runner WI idea and just run a big nuzzle in the IC outlet until I get an aftermarket IM. Sigh. |
