Found a good place to run WI tubing!

Joe was asking about tubing runs the other day and got a few responses. I was working on a DIY catch can this morning and trying to find a place to mount it. I was thinking about attaching it to the body pretty close to the throttle body (there is a flat place on the frame there) and one of the hard fuel lines was in my way. I took a look at it and it is just a leftover from when I had a charcoal canister in the car. It seems to be some sort of vent or something (someone let me know what it is <G>). Anyway, I ripped it to shreads and pulled that sucker out all the way to the gas tank (under the car). It leaves a very nice empty slot in the OEM fuel line holder that runs under the length of the car. I was considering running along that before but with that line removed it looks like the perfect place.

FYI, it is the "inside" (closest to the center of the car) line if anyone wants to crawl under their car and take a look. It is also the forward most line in the engine bay.

Someone needs to figure out what that line is so I know whether to cap it off, crimp it shut, or just leave it hanging down by the fuel tank. There was a few drops of fuel in the line when I cut it. I'm assuming it is just a vent of sorts.

if it is the size of vaccum line then it is a vac lin this is a vent for our fuel tank end it up high and put a Fuel filter on the end and you should be fine good find. i wonder why i didnt see that.

Rob- thanks for the advice, but I did finally get the system done this past weekend. It's pretty slick, but I haven't had a chance to write anything up yet- Friday and Saturday was a marathon run to get the car finished, Sunday was a 150 mile fun run, Sunday, Monday and Tursday nights were spent repairing the damage from the wreck towards the end of the aforementioned fun run.

damage you guys OK?

I was under my car all day doing my tranny (finishing up this morning) and was just too tired/busy to rerun mine to the fuel brackets. I'll probably do it sometime though.

Yeah, no damage to me, apart from my ego... I was heading into a big right hand sweeper, trail-braking just a little too much, and the car started fishtailing, headed for a rocky wall. I over-corrected, spun 180 degrees, and exited the opposite side of the road, backwards, into some small trees which thankfully stopped the car and prevented me from rolling down the small cliff. EVerybody stopped and helped me push the car out, and we were able to continue. The damage is mostly cosmetic, the rear bumper, trunk lid, and both rear fenders took a beating. As to mechanical items- one broken exhaust mount, a broken intercooler pipe support, little stuff like that.

not bad glad you got lucky.

That would have been a nice video to post on youtube. :gay:

Glad you are ok...

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing myself. I'd contemplated building a rig to hold my digital camera (no rollbar) but I ran out of time on Saturday and said "to heck with it," which is the same reason the big rear bar was still in the car on Sunday. I'd meant to remove it and put the stocker back in since the car does have a tendancy to oversteer, but I got lazy. :vash::vash::vash::vash::vash:

The real killer though is that nobody even got a picture of me in the dirt! We got the car pushed out and back on the road before anyone could think to grab a camera- they were all fretting over trivial stuff like "Did he go over the cliff?" and "We gotta get this road cleared or we're all gonna die." :D
