has anyone tested their WI pressure output?
I'm bench testing a set up I made using parts I believe are superior to the stuff on the market but I want to be able to test my injection pressure to make sure I'm getting the pressure I need. I was going to get a 300psi gauge but I wanted to see if anyone has actually tested the output of their pump.

There are some pumps that are a by-pass pressure design and it would be a good idea to test with a gauge and your chosen nozzle/nozzles. In for pics.

My setup uses a Hobbs pressure switch. This drives an indicator inside the car and also enables EBC. But, it's just a 60PSI switch. |

That's where I got the one I used when I was playing with the configuration of the DO progressive controller years ago. |
I finally roughed in my WI. I'm seeing about 140 psi so think that should be good for my purposes. I'm going to work on it Sunday and hopefully do some logs. at least now I know the pump can achieve the pressure, but I need to do some test to make sure it can maintain that pressure with my nozzle

yeah that pretty much what I did i a piece of ply wood, but I had to chase a couple fittings that were sucking air and I had bubbles in the line. now all is well. just need to clean up wire a bit and find a place to mount my power inverter that powers the pump.

I had an oil pressure gauge setup, but couldn't get a fitting where the oil pressure sender was in the block, so I Teed into the meth kit. With a DO 100psi pump with the washer mod, I was getting 140 psi with an M1, M1 and M0.5, M2 and M0.5, and an M2 and M1. Not alot of flow. It supposedly takes more than 3 gph to keep the pump out of bypass, and much more to reduce pressure.

My supper clever and innovative pump selection seems to have taken a dump, think the testing duty cycle was too much. well I need to take to apart and figure out what is going on. the pump is AC so it is possible my power supply is not strong enough. if you have a reasonably price pump that can achieve 140 psi with some flow I would be interested. right now I'm spraying only one nozzle @ 2.8 GPH. |
It was Devil's Own's old pump, the original. Came set at 100 psi. Pull the pressure switch on top, and put a washer under the spring, and bam, more pressure. Voids warranty, but the pump is 10 years old anyway.
