Nozzle before or after the AIT sensor?

Should I install the nozzle before the AIT sensor or after it(between AIT sensor and throttle body)?

also curious

interesting to think about, I guess it depends on how much the water/meth injection throws off the real temperature reading and resulting air density. Assuming you are running a speed/density system (I.E. MS) I would be concerned with running it before as you might be putting in more oxygen than the computer expects and make it run lean. OTOH the anti-knock properties might make that a moot point.

Methanol in your WI solution might damage the sensor. Pretty sure I've been told that it methanol will eat the coating off the thermistor(w/e it is). I don't have mine installed but people say WI frequently richens the boosted section of fuel map by one point. So even though you wouldn't be metering how much "cooler" the air is as it enters the engine, tuning around it shouldn't be a problem.
If I was running WI with my MS system I would want double tables for table switching mode so that I could have WI enabled and disabled. Just incase something failed I could flick a couple switches to go back to non-WI and not worry about running lean. Then again how would you really know if something was wrong unless you had one of Joe's safety setup.

My fuel map does just fine with WI i noticed when greenday used my map he had to tweak the midrange and top end, a little, but not by a whole lot. I would just run ambient engine bay temp like i am doing now. Works just fine.

So you mounted your nozzles in between the TB and the AIT right?

cjernigan 08-28-2007 10:34 AM

He doesn't have an IAT sensor in his intake plumbing. He runs just a crossover and has his IAT sensor just laying in the engine bay. Magna is a special case.
Those that do have WI usually do mount the nozzle between the IAT and TB.

I guess if i do run WI it will have to be just plain ol water because I have my IAT tapped into the intake manifold. just as well since distilled water would end up costing a bit less than running a methanol mix
