So how does this shit work?

I have read on Wikipedia about water injection and I could pretty much guess what they told me. So a few questions come to mind that maybe others have.

1. Is this a replacement for a Intercooler? If so how much does the whole system weigh?

2. How often are you going to have to fill a tank of juice?

3. Does the system constantly spray the juice? Can you walk me through a cycle?

4. Water is pretty easy to come by, what about the other stuff?

5. I track my car, all this talk about no timing retard and what not is very interesting. Is this a good saftey tool for my engine at the track?

6. Do you have to have piggy back to run WI, or can you run it with anything (ie Voodoo box, Pc Pro........)?

maybe this should be a Sticky for noobs!!

I'll take a stab at some of these ?s..

1. You could say that, it drops intake temps (a lot of times below ambient, which intercoolers cannot do with ambient air).

2. Maybe once a week for my gallon tank. Figure one tank of water per tank of fuel, maybe more depending on your needs.

3. No. If it's just a basic system, there is an adjustable pressure switch which triggers the WI when the boost level you chose is reached.

4. The other stuff is just as easy to come by. Go to WalMart and grab a jug of supertech "blue" washer fluid. Cheap washer fluids are methanol and water, avoid RainX and others with cleaners and soaps in them. Shake the bottle, if it suds, don't use it. Also, HEET fuel treatment is nearly 99% methanol, so you can mix that with water too. Many ways to skin the cat.

5. Yes.

6. No piggyback needed. You can have an EMS control it somehow, but I'd have to let someone else explain how that works.

Tons of this is covered in my group buy thread.

I guess I will have to go back and look at it harder.....

can you run an intercooler and WI?

Sorry...I was headed out the door. My post came off with the wrong tone.

The systems are pretty light weight. The heaviest component is usually the reservoir when its filled with fluid.

It can replace an intercooler but its a hell of a lot smarter to run both and will let you push things further. A lot of guys on here are using it as an intercooler replacement with no ill effects.

The rate you will consume water/methanol is connected to your right foot just like fuel consumption There are a couple of other things like nozzle size and whether you have a basic or progressive system that will slightly effect consumption. A gallon will usually last a week of moderate street driving.

This is the ultimate safety device whether you are street or track driving. You can install it and just leave your original boost and timing or you can lean on the system a bit by advancing the timing or cranking the boost. Most the components in the kit are very reliable as long as your installation is solid.

You can run WI just fine with the stock ECU. It works great on factory boosted car because the ecu will read the low intake temps and lack of knock and start feeding in timing for you.

Well at 7-8 PSI on a NB it seems like I wouldn't really need to have an IC if I am conservative on my timing adjustments. Thoughts? I guess if I was to go over 7-8lbs I would do an I/C.

No offense taken I try to read as much as I can before I open my mouth as I don't like to be an irritation. It didn't seem like my questions were gunna get answered so I thought I would go for the juggular HEH.

dude WI is the shit but i go through 1.5 gallons in 45 minutes of Boosted driving staying above 4psi the system can be simple or it can be complicated ive run up to 16 psi with no bipes 10 btdc timming, and a simple on/off system. On 93 octane. WI can make laods of power for you man :bigtu:

I have a question along this thread please

I am running a MP62 coldside at 10 lbs of boost @ stock timing and no timing control. I have some questions please and dont mean to hijack this thread but to add to it.

1. Using WI in the mix...would that effect my a/f ratio?
2. if your already using a 5th injector to cool the charge and add fuel does WI interfere?
3. I am running base timing with no timing control. Can I simply slap on a bigger pulley and install a WI kit and go to town?

where do I start please?

thanks

Buck

You can advance the timing and up the boost. Unless you run a very high percentage of methanol, your a/f is hardly effected. It would allow you to hit your goals.
