Default Made good progress today

Well today was finish water injection day and try to get the 3071 in. Made good progress, lots of wiring with the coolingmist as the gauge is also the controller so a bundle of wires coming from the trunk, a bundle from the gauge, etc. Ended up putting a relay in for the main WI power feed, worked out great. The system is up and running, lots of fun lights. Now just need to get the turbo on and get to the dyno! The Labonte box is kinda cool, it monitors the WI flow and if flow stops, it dumps the wastegate.

Pardon my ignorance, but is the yellow thing on the firewall a fuel filter? IF so, really interesting setup.

That's the oil filter. It's a older FM piece and also where I have the oil temp sender.

Ok, saw all the AN fuel stuff and the gauge and thought it was a fuel filter

Line from center of adapter goes to front connection on filter holder.

Woahhh WTF is a labonte box? Google didn't tell me the answer. I really could use a special magical box that does what you describe.. thx

Very cool, thank you. I was going to try to wire something up for this purpose but I think I trust the box more.

How is your dual EGT gauge doing? One of my needles is starting to act wonky so I may have to send it to westach for fixings.

Default Update - install complete

So I finished today (do you ever really finish?) Got the 3071 in and plumbed, had to make a bracket for the WG can and had to bend, cut, thread the rod and add an extension so now it's adjustable! Finished plumbing the fail-safe and wired it up. I had gotten a request to document mounting locations etc. so here it is with some pics. First drive was this afternoon, limited to 8 lbs WG. Keep in mind there's no tuning, rich as ****, etc but the EGT's were absolutely fridged. I have a LOT of tuning to do. Trip to the dyno is planed.

OK, back to the WI.

Cooling Mist CMGS
flow meter
trunk mount tank
Water Injection, Methanol Injection, Alcohol Injection Systems | Coolingmist

Labonte motorsports fail-safe
IFS-30C - Injection Fail Safe - Combo

added stuff - 12V relay, misc brackets, lots of wire, some had to be larger than signal wire to handle the current and distance between the motor and controller. I think I used 12 for the power stuff, 16 for the signals.

I ended up building a wire harness between the trunk and cold-side and another from the cold-side to the controller/gage. This is kinda a downside, lots of wires and a vacuum line have to go into the cabin but I just made one harness, maybe 1/2" thick and it snaked right in. The CMGS does replace your boost gage though so one less guage.

So it works like this:

When the CMGS sees boost it dynamically squirts the juice and a bar graph on the display shows the flow. It controls the juice flow by running the pump and a solenoid valve inline near the sprayer. Pretty straight forward.

The labonte box is plumped inline near the sprayer, after the solenoid. It watches for flow and when it reaches its setpoint, activates a 12V output. This output then triggers another solenoid at the EBC allowing it to control boost. So basically, until the labonte box sees flow you get nothing above base WG boost. Here's the trick, you have to make sure the flow start boost pressure setting on the CMGS is below that base boost level or it will never spray and never go beyond base. My base boost is about 8 psi so I start spraying at 7 and all is well.

Tuning will tell but I'm pleased with the system, comfortable with the fail-safe, and looking forward to getting on the dyno and turning up the boost.
