It might be good to specify which 16g turbo it is. If you don't know at least post numbers or pics.

The evo fuel pump is solid. It is indeed much quieter than the Walbro with similar flow, but if it is an evo VIII the fuel pressure cuts out early, the IX does not cut pressure high up.

I posted this from work, I have to go home and get the info later tonight.

I didnt know that about the evo 8 and 9 pumps. When I bought it the guy said "evo 9" but now that you've said that I'd like to make sure... Do you have more information about that?

xveganxcowboyx 01-08-2008 10:24 PM

No sorry, I don't remember the details about it. They both flow similar numbers (about the same as the walbro 190 as you said), but I remember reading that the Evo VIII pump cut flow or limited pressure at some point. Maybe in the 70-80 psi range (don't remember where but that's probably the ballpark. The evo IX pump does not limit pressure like this and can pump much higher. It's not an issue for most vehicles (I use the Evo VIII pump in my 23psi Talon with no issues) but it for guys wanting to use a FMU or something else that bumps pressure very high they would want to be sure it's the Evo IX pump.

Check post 11. AMS says the VIII pump has a relief valve that opens between 65 and 68 psi.

might be getting into a miata soon so please keep updating this thread for the status of the sale... thanks... btw would i need anything else for this set up to work?

VRTSid 01-10-2008 05:50 PM

intercooler pipe couplings, tuning, I would have the injectors rebuilt for piece of mind, nice water and oil return hoses for the turbo (I used rubber and tossed them) but thats it.

kit is still for sale, includes oil pan drill bit, and tap if you need them.

did you ever figure out which evo fuel pump it was... also with a proper tune, what hp numbers can you estimate that i would be seeing?

willing to part with the boomslang, emanage blue, and tuning cable? I can pick up, just lmk how much if you are willing.

I bought it as a evo9, I havent had internet in a week and half. Im going to try and find out this weekend. I was shooting for solid 200whp when I was building it with room to grow. Im no expert but look at other setups that are similar, I would put it at around 230-250whp, maybe more? I honestly wasnt thinking in that direction when I was putting it together.
