doesnt like like there is any bracing on it

turbopezz 07-24-2007 01:50 AM

looks like a civic manifold, that cheap quality like a ss autochrome.
it breaks and you weld it, then it breaks again an you weld it.you do this till you chuck it out...thats what my friend with a honda said about his ss autochrome mani

Slidin'Miata916 07-24-2007 01:52 AM

I dont like those kinds of manifolds. But my friend with a Mr-2 Says, that a PROPERLY welded stainless manifold is better then a cast manifold anyday. Not my words, but I kinda see where hes comming from.

m2cupcar 07-24-2007 09:27 AM

I've got 1k miles on SS tubular mani - and most of the miles are for tuning = heavy boosted runs. No cracks, not a single failure. I have a brace that runs off the downpipe right after the turbine to the block and a flex pipe.

wildfire0310 07-24-2007 03:39 PM

yea its SS but like M2 said some people have been running SS for awhile with no problem.

If I had a 1.8 I would job on it but at last, my poor 1.6 will have to deal with a custom made manifold by me.... poor poor car...lol

messiahx 07-26-2007 01:27 PM

I have one of these sitting at home, actually. It isn't great on build quality, but it looks like it'll do the job fine. My local performance shop didn't say anything bad about it when I showed it to them. 'Course it doesn't match the turbo I have (T3). Anyone have a T25 for sale?

samnavy 07-26-2007 02:38 PM

$670 after shipping!!! Who are they kidding?

The Begi's are $550 externally gated, AND COME WITH A BRACE. I bet Corky would even make you one for a little cheaper if you opted for an internal WG setup.

that's for everything in photo turbo-related -
"1.8L GT28 TURBO+MANIFOLD+T28 ELBOW DOWNPIPE"
Remember this is all chinese stuff

rharris19 07-26-2007 02:53 PM

but just for comparison that is 670 with a turbo and partial downpipe. I am not supporting that thing becasue i know it is a piece of crap, but that same setup with the same components used in the series 4 kit would cost atleast twice the price of this auction. Well worth it in my opinion as i'm sure this one would just brake and you would ahve to buy another anyway.

not a horrible deal if you've got the guts.

turbo hit block?

Did they happen to notice the thickness of the material?

Including the wonderful spelling.. turbo not hit block. :ugh2:

m2cupcar 07-26-2007 07:27 PM

I'd be hesitant comment on the quality of anything w/o actually having it in my hands, installing it and using it. I have a $60 SS Autochrome 16ga. tubular stainless manifold on my car and it hasn't failed... yet. :gay: I keep saying that.

Definitely a unique solution to keep the turbo from hitting the block - just remove the block.

No, or if they did, they didn't say anything. I'll ask when I bring the car in for a downpipe if they think it'll be an issue. If so, I will have them or a friend fab some kinda brace up. I wouldn't know because this is my first turbo project, so I'm still learning. If you want, I can measure parts of it, just tell me where.

Reason I ask is the Ebay stuff is usually 18ga. 16ga would be more acceptable. You should have a jig put together for it and cut the flanges off and have it remade. Probably the best use of Ebay manifolds is the flange and the design, welds and tube material seem to be spotty.
