90-93 or 94-95 DIY Megasquirt

anyone want one? going to be building two shortly and wanna know if there are others here that want one as well before I place my order for parts.

$360 + shipping for a standard MS, just controls fuel and spark
$410 + shipping for a MS with an EBC

if you want idle control or any other random options it will be a few more bucks.

this includes the AIT kit, boomslang, solenoid, preloaded MSQ, semi-coherant instructions, & my personal help.

does not include, WBo2, wire, vacuum line.

Loki047 09-11-2007 10:41 PM

FUCK YOU!!!

4 weeks you cocksucker and i spent $300 extra

Braineack 09-11-2007 10:42 PM

you're smart, you could have done it yourself.

Loki047 09-11-2007 10:45 PM

yeah but smart are lazy arent mutually exclusive. But man, good luck, im jealous of the guys that snag these up

cjernigan 09-11-2007 11:12 PM

V3.0? Just curious what you're producing.

turbobluemiata 09-12-2007 12:03 AM

is this the same as the plug and play except hes makin them?

turbobluemiata 09-12-2007 12:06 AM

if there the same thing then ill give you 500

firedog25 09-12-2007 12:06 AM

This going to be complete stand alone or piggybacking? I want stuff on mine.

Braineack 09-12-2007 08:51 AM

It's not a PnP from Diyautotune, it's a typical standard run-of-the-mill diy megasquirt kit, that yours truely will solder, mod, and wire for installation:

https://www.miataturbo.net/~web1_bra...uirt%20004.jpg

As you can see here, it's wired into a boomslang, with the few extra inputs labeled and ready for wiring:

https://www.miataturbo.net/~web1_bra...pnpharness.jpg

MSI v3.0 Board, identical to what I'm running. Piggyback solution to retain OEM operation of fans, idle, and A/C.

Will be loaded with MSnSE with a base map, so it should be turn key and get you started.

What it will require on your part:
  • a laptop with serial cable
  • downloading Megatune and Megalog Viewer
  • reading my instructions
  • wiring & install the air intake temp sensor.
  • running a vacuum line for the MS.
  • Grounding the Fuel pump lead.
  • Connecting your WBo2 signal (if applicable)
  • Correcting setting Base Timing
  • learning how to tune and maniplate the software without fuding the bucket

I'm only going to make 2-3 of them, but have one confirmed, so let me know asap so I can order parts and start at it.

will add things like knocksenseMS, 2-stage fan controls for a nomial fee.

Braineack 09-12-2007 09:57 AM

oh yeah, lead time will be 2-3 weeks once the parts show up (2-3 days after ordering). Gotta build it all from scratch.

JDMAflac 09-12-2007 10:07 AM

Hey Braineack,

I PMed you a month ago about this. I decided to bite the bullet and give in. Let me know what you need.

This is for a 90' greddy kit, 1.8 injectors, starion intercooler, 255 fuel pump (uninstalled)

Stripes 09-12-2007 10:09 AM

Wow! Amazing price for a PNP standalone. If you have trouble selling these, I might pick one up and sell my Link. I feel left out with everyone going MS;)

Jefe 09-12-2007 10:14 AM

Hey,

I'll take one of the $360.00 for a 94, I don't need the EBC for this one (CS M45).

I was planning on building another at some point but time has gotten in the way.

Also, can you add the Knocksense?

(I'll search later)--pretty busy at work right now... But this thing Heat soaks pretty quickly...

Thanks for offering this :)

jwarriner 09-12-2007 10:20 AM

Brain, I would be interested in one for my '92.

Braineack 09-12-2007 10:24 AM

I bought 5 sets of ECU connectors last night, so I can build a total of 5 for now.

PM if you are serious and ready to pay, I'd like to place an order for parts on Friday.

Confirmed list:

1. Tony V. MS + EBC
2. jwarriner MS (mod for Idle/EBC)
3. firedog25 MS + EBC + knocksenseMS + 4-Bar
4. JDMAflac MS + EBC
5. whaaamx5 MS + EBC
6. Jefe MS
7. turbobluemiata MS + EBC

future potential:
Daniaml *

JDMAflac 09-12-2007 04:38 PM

You've been paypaled!
:friday:
Now onward to find a search for a wideband. (best i found was 245 shipped for aem uego)

Ben 09-12-2007 04:41 PM

last I checked you could not adjust the AEM's analog out. if that's still the case get the Innovate

/jack

jwarriner 09-12-2007 04:47 PM

Somes Qs that might be helpful to others:

Is it easy to add other stuff later, can Knocksense and the EBC be added without opening up the MS box? Can the stock ECU be removed altogether at some point?

Zabac 09-12-2007 04:49 PM

i dont think that you can add anything without opening it...

I can mod the board for both. so no, you wouldnt have to open it up. The added cost is mostly the solenoid.

yes, the stock ecu could be removed. Just need the idle mod and fan controls, should be simple enough.

The idle mod will control the air idle valve on the TB. And the fans just get grounded, so bring the ground wire the thermoswitch grounds to the MS instead and walla.

Ben 09-12-2007 05:00 PM

if it's a 1.6, the MS doesn't even need to control fans.

you will have to provision for a/c control too if you remove the ecu

Ole 09-12-2007 05:27 PM

Just a question from a MS noob... What is the difference between this DIY pack youre offering and the PnP for the 90-93???

I guess I have to more some of the wires in the conector anyway since I have this European version that uses a bit different ECU... I think so because the bous running link on this engine have to mod the conector...

LC-1 or JAW. I am partial to the JAW. Great unit.

good to know. havent looked at the diagrams for it yet.

I was planning on having people run the ground line to the MS instead of the thermoswitch. Then you can at least pick the temp you want to turn them on at. But if that's the case the 207° switch works fine.

Ben 09-12-2007 08:18 PM

yeah, that's a good point. I would suggest to those who want MS to run fan control the same way I am: cooling fan ground switched by MS and a/c side fan switched by thermoswitch via a dpst relay. this way I can set the temp the cooling fan turns on at, and the passenger side fan turns on with EITHER the a/c or at 207. Applies to 1.6 only.

Zabac 09-12-2007 08:22 PM

red drop top-question regarding WB, i am too looking to get one, why is the LC-1 or JAW better than AEM, please share...pros cons...etc
thanks

Braineack 09-12-2007 08:32 PM

hell if want me to add the jaw to your price i can build it and have it all ready for you.

I forgot i was going to offer that.

Jefe 09-12-2007 09:17 PM

email sent.

WELL WTF@!@@@!!

Just kidding, what kind of price are you looking at for that tidbit? I got a quote from a dealer for $249 shipped for the Innovate LC-1 with the DB gauge.

Zabac 09-12-2007 09:49 PM

BRAINEACK-thank goodness for paypal...you got it...
JDMAFLAK-brain confirmed, we combined it...sweet...

also...someone please explain benefit of one over another, id like to have A/F gauge...thanks

Benefit is cost. Plus the JAW comes with a nifty display for much cheaper then an LC-1 with gauge.

All a wideband does is just interpolate voltages, this one has 2 outputs and onboard logging as well.

Don't get me wrong, the LC-1 is a SOLID unit, works exceptionally well in many applications.

A good analogy would be the JAW is more like a megasquirt and the LC-1 an AEM EMS.

turbobluemiata 09-12-2007 11:38 PM

Zabac 09-13-2007 10:14 AM

reddroptop-sweet...i get, kinda, so basically its more of a DIY item and therefore tis cheaper? work the same, same benefits, no withdraws, and it has onboard logging, and gauge (easy to read?)
thanks for your help...

reddroptop 09-13-2007 10:19 AM

The gauge is a DIY gauge as well, it is based on the same LED panel that is in an alarm clock. It is excellent at night, and during the day except when the sun is pointed directly at it. In that case I just put my hand over it for a quick second and still can get a reading.

Braineack 09-13-2007 01:48 PM

ok that's all i wanna commit to as this point. Let's see how it works out for everyone and I'll do another lot in a few weeks.
