ACT Extreme clutch

Hello,

I am selling a used ACT Extreme clutch (pressure plate and organic disk clutch) that I bought from johnwag a long time ago. It had 10K miles when I bought it. I never used it in my car. I'm asking $200 shipped with in the continental USA.

Does this include any bearings/alignment tool or is it just the clutch and plate?

redrider706 12-21-2015 11:39 PM

No bearing or alignment tool.

Raj needs the money bump.

Bump for a good deal. I bought this exact clutch used from a mt.net member used 7 or 8 years ago, and after 8 years of running all the boost, the thing finally started slipping launching on drag radials on a track at 30 PSI boost. I swapped to a 6 puck disk and still rocking the ACT PP.

ACT XT clutches are BEAST. GL with the sale. If mine wasn't indestructible, I'd buy this one as a spare!

Using the same clutch in my '02SE. IMO, it's the best built-motor street clutch available.

How stiff is the pedal feel with this clutch?

gooflophaze 01-29-2016 01:25 AM

It's stiff. I've had one as well, and definitely heavier than stock - but if you need more power holding capabilities than this you get into puck clutches which aren't as streetable (much more binary).

How much stiffer? Like a chore to work or just heavier? Is it picky about modulation?

gooflophaze 01-29-2016 03:54 AM

Heavier. I only noticed when I drove a different vehicle like my truck, but I never thought I was doing leg presses in traffic. Modulation is like stock, just heavier.

I bought this same clutch used years ago and it's been in all 4 of my miatas. I must have around 80k miles on it since I bought it and I'm still loving it.

It's stiff, but tough to quantify. It's kind of like the PS delete thing, some people don't care or really even notice while others cry and complain. I've daily driven the clutch and I've had 110lb women drive my car with no problem, but I've had grown ass 300lb men try to drive my car and get all emotional about it.

I've always been told it's super stiff, but having daily-driven it for 6 months now, it's not bad at all. Even stop-and-go traffic isn't a big deal.

^What he said. My 110lb wife can drive it just fine.

Frankly, a stock pedal feels floppy to me now. Engagement is like stock because the material is like stock. The pp is just a little stronger to keep it from slipping under a load. I love it. It is easy to use in parking lots but still holds big torque.

Might be a noob question, but would it fit a 1.6?

redrider706 01-31-2016 05:42 PM

It is for a 1.8L motor.

DanBrown 01-31-2016 07:05 PM

Willing to buy, did some research and it'll fit with a 1.8 flywheel. PM'd

You should pair it up with the aluminum flywheel in this ad
https://www.miataturbo.net/miata-par...lywheel-87138/

I have a similar setup and it is great. Extra grip for high HP but fast rev because of the light FW. No downside to going 1.8L when you have the light flywheel.
