billet oil pump gears
from a recent email i recieved
Hey, I'm thrilled to finally be able to say, "all systems are go" on the next batch of billet steel oil pump gears! The promised target for completion of production is 3-4 weeks, so if all goes well, we're looking at a ship date around 11/1/06. Payment will not be required until the parts are ready to ship, but I appreciate your firm commitment to make a purchase once you confirm your interest. FYI, I will maintain a public list of those who have confirmed their orders @ http://miataroadster.com/index.html#gears DETAILS ON PRICING: On Friday, I got a commitment from my machinist that he will make the gears using a different material and streamlined production process vs. that used to produce the original batch of six sets that I sold six months ago at $425/set (and making virtually no profit). He'll start on Monday making 10-25 sets of gears (the actual number made will depend on the orders I can secure in the coming week, before production is too far along). At the $300 price, this is literally a labor of love. I had to accept a higher cost than I had anticipated when I arbitrarily established the "new, improved" $300 price point in order to break down resistance to the $425 price, leaving me (again) with virtually no margin. As much as I hate to back-pedal on promises, I'm going to have to withdraw my previous offer to include free shipping. I will charge you the $300 plus only the actual FedEx shipping charge to your location with no added "handling" charges for padding, as we all see so many vendors do. PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR: Until I'm able to rationalize the (at least) $175/month expense to become a paid sponsor of Miata.net, I have been barred by Mr. Fischman from posting updates about the gears. I would appreciate any help you would be willing to offer in passing on the news to fellow power-hungry Miata.net members by posting updates on any or all of the threads listed below, with this link to my website: http:// miataroadster.com/index.html#gears http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=175395 http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=180695 http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=173225 http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=175397 http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=175524 http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=15446 And if you're a member of a MiataPower.net, please put out the word there, too: http://www.miatapower.net/sympa/arc/miatapower IN SUMMARY: These gears are only the first of many ideas I have for products that seem to be "under the radar" of the "big boys." My goal is to get the gears into people's engines (even, if necessary, as a loss leader) to establish my brand name as a vendor of unique and "serious" performance parts for Miatas. Thanks again for your patience and help spreading the word! Bill Wilner MiataRoadster.com this guy seems to have a good product if i had a motor build on i would totally buy some. here you go. |
