Bilstein Coilover NA/NB 670/350

Silver Mazdaspeed coilovers, with AWR collars, ISC rear hats, and homemade front hats, revalved front shocks. Spring rates are 670/350. These preform flawless on the track and actually ride pretty plush on the street. Lots of travel. The hats cost around $200, springs $200, shocks $450, AWR collars $400, revalve $250. Looking for $750 plus shipping. I'll try to get pics up soon. I can drop the price $100 bucks and swap out AWR collars for No name collars.

What are you looking to replace these with?

Seriously, they do ride OK on the street? What ride height seemed about right for these?

jacob300zx 08-02-2010 07:27 PM

Spoolin2bars has the most street miles on these as he drove back from Hallett, Ok to Corpus Christi on them. He said they rode surprisingly smooth for such high rates. I have them setup with lots of travel @ 11.75 ride height. John Wags drove the setup at Hallett and said it was great handling. Which I thought was a great compliment since he has Tein Monoflex. I'm thinking of switching over to a S2000.

Huh, way to make me question what I'm about to do an hour from now..
In for pics.

Did you have the MSM bilstein's shortened or did you keep the length? I believe Shakih usually cuts the shaft about 1" since they are much longer than std ones. But that's what gives you epic travel with these I assume. Was it bernie, FCM, or bilstein USA that did the revalve? I assume Bilstein? Probably not a big deal, its not like many of us are racecar drivers anyway.

This would be an easy way to complete my build anyway..

Bilstein, no shaft shortening.

chance91 08-02-2010 07:58 PM

ugh. I made a mistake. Ok, thanks for info.

jacob300zx 08-02-2010 08:02 PM

Nothing wrong with shortening the shaft, no biggie. PM me your setup and I'll try to help. The fatcat calculator will get you 95% of the way there.

They are a lot cleaner than they look in the pics. My yard guy went crazy with the blower near the car.

I was amazed to see how well balanced this car was at Hallett, especially in the rain. Johnwag really liked this car. Good buy to whoever...if I didn't have my eye on something fancy I'd buy these coilovers.

Braineack 08-02-2010 08:51 PM

If I had the cash I would.

jacob300zx 08-02-2010 09:17 PM

I think Wags ran a 1.33 at Hallett in his first session on my 205 RA1's. I bet it would go faster if he was used to the car.

Still interested, i just put my FS thread as a response to yours.

I'd prefer the non-shortened shaft. I'm told if you dip under 12" ride height you want them cut down 1" because you put the shocks out of their optimum dampening range, or something of the likes. Basically they end up chasing themselves, much like they do with the stock springs.

Are these on an NA or Msm? Why could you not use OEM NB front hats, or could you?

Actually, it looks like MSM sways in the back, but regular half shafts so this must be an NA?

turotufas 08-02-2010 09:57 PM

Damn this is the deal that I was looking for! But I bought something else. GLWS.

jacob300zx 08-02-2010 10:11 PM

Yes NA, but with the ICS hats they can run on any miata 90-05

jacob300zx 08-03-2010 11:51 AM

Just to clarify on some PM's and calls I've gotten...These are adjustable but the amount of travel was set up for a 11.5-12" ride height. If you want to run it higher I would change those front top hats for some stock nb hats.

Still up for grabs!

Wish you were just looking for something different. I've been thinking about going with something other then this Koni setup for awhile (koni sports, 400/220, ICS top hats, FCM bumps and GC collars) just to see how other setups feel.

Argh...want these. Anyone want a set of H&R coilovers with less than 1000 miles on them?
