Complete Torsen Swap-maybe

a buddy of mine, non-member, is thinking about parting his wrecked car
what is a good ammount he could get for a compete torsen swap (NA, not sure what year-will find out if needed)
he would include complete diff., axles, driveshaft and PPF (do you even need a PPF in the swap or will the 90-93 work?)
any help will be appreciated

thanks

ps-reason this is in the FS thread is b/c it could very likely turn into a FS add if someone wants the whole swap and is willing to pay for it

$700-$800 is a good price imo, and you don't need the PPF in the swap

2nd dibs

around $800 seems to be the going rate for torsen swaps. The ppf is not necessary, but i have found for those doing the swap, it is easier to just do the swap with the ppf attached to the diff. From my experience the bolts attaching the ppf to the differential tend to seize and snap.

I would say $350... Thats how much i paid.

I paid $50 for my torsen ;)

Some people are pretty stupid...

All depends on mileage and condition. I have seen them for 700-950. 950 being low mileage and no rust. What is the history of this one?

Bryce 03-11-2008 07:13 AM

900 shipped for a low mile 3.9 is what I paid on m.net.

Well

a complete kit from planetmiata after all there mark-ups

Rear Diff Swap Kit 1.6 to 1.8 - 4.10 torsen (includes diff, driveshaft, alum. housing & cv axles) $1100.00
BTW that doesn't say if it is a torsen 1 or 2 but I haven't see much price difference on the two if the mileage is the same

Ben 03-11-2008 10:17 AM

We get $1050 for a 4.10 swap kit.

miataz 03-11-2008 10:25 AM

Shiet that is expensive. Whats the better route finding one cheap for 500-800 bucks or buying one from planet miata or you guys for 1100$? And if you do buy it from you guys if we trade in our old one do we get a core charge for it or no?

Zabac 03-11-2008 10:51 AM

this one is out of a 94 with low-for-the-age mileage, around 120K
so its gonna have the little stub axles i believe
it should be pretty much identical to waht i have in my car, mines also a 94...if that means anything
so less than $1000 for sure then...
i'll let ya'll know what he'll take after i talk to him this afternoon
i will honor the dibs here before listing it anywhere else

UrbanSoot 03-11-2008 03:04 PM

cash in hand. for now...

Zabac 03-11-2008 06:19 PM

ok, we got a price update...
$900 plus shipping

but we already have a sale pending....so, in case sale does not go through (will know tomorrow) will honor second dibs

thanks
Dan

Any chance your buddy would part with the 1.8 speedo gear out of the transmission?
