Differential Assembly, 1.8 Torsen w/4.10 gears with housing

I have a Torsen 1.8 differential assembly with one axle from a '95 for sale. It has a 4.10 gear ratio. I took the assembly apart to verify the gear ratio and that it was indeed a Torsen, so I can ship just the components if someone doesn't want it all. The diff lube that came out seemed clean and there were no signs of trouble inside or out. The inner CV joints were both slinging a little grease from the metal dust caps (not the boots, the boots are good) on the inside. Probably needs a little fresh grease there and some sealer to seal the caps upon reassembly to give many more years of continued service. I am only listing one axle because the other was fubared when removing it from the wheel hub. I'll send the fubared axle too if you want to try to do something with it.

I already had a 4.10 Torsen in my primary Miata and I don't need two of them.

Now only $600 shipped for everything because it is all heavy and bulky.

Now only $550 shipped for just the assembled chunk with no aluminum housing or axles.

Thanks.

Nobody is attracted to my rear end? So depressing.

Less depressing:

I liked the firefly one better.

How much would you want for just the torsen (no housing or gears)?
How many miles on it?
Was the donor car tracked?

It was a DD for the guy I bought it from until he bought a Jeep. 126k miles on the car. He was a college student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University over near Daytona and also worked as a bartender or something. No, he wasn't a track car kinda guy.

I don't want to disassemble a perfectly good chunk. It is worth more to most people as a bolt-in assembly that they don't have to shim, use a crush sleeve, or set up, I would think. I'm sure someone with a weak 1.6 or an open 1.8 rear would want to upgrade to something better.

I have an open 1.8 but don't want another diff carrier :( Thanks for the reply!

This is a sign that the economy sucks when you cant even sell a torsen on MT.net

astroboy 01-16-2011 03:54 PM

I would buy but I am being a jew about my build :D

What about just the diff and housing as an assembly?

And by housing do you mean the iron part containing the gears (commonly referred to a the chunk) or together with the aluminum part that attaches it to the subframe of the car (which would be the entire assembly)? Both of those options are listed in the first post. Are you looking for something else?

redfred18t 01-16-2011 10:51 PM

does this include the driveshaft?

Yes, that is what is available for $600, and it can come with an axle or possibly a driveshaft, to answer the other gentleman's question.

Having the wrong rims won't cause you to push your car out of the street while a parking lot full of people stand there and laugh at you. :)

Quick question full axle or stud style axle?

Two piece axles (I really should have posted pics, huh?) with the stub axle going into the diff, and the other side of the stub having a four stud flange. Both stub axles are in fine shape. It was just the outer section of the right driveshaft that had issues at the area of the wheel hub interface.

I'm just bumping to remind myself of this depending on what miata I buy, and whether I decide I need a torsen for it :)

at least no shipping for me too.
