Do NOT buy from CXRacing (eBay CXLighting)

I'm just giving my experience with this company as a reference. It was pretty bad.

I ordered an EWG from these guys on 1/15. There was an optional MBC that could be included for an extra $15. There wasn't an option through their checkout to add the additional $15, so I completed the transaction for the EWG only, and then emailed them to see if they could invoice me separately for the MBC. All was good at first. They sent me another invoice and said they would include the MBC in the shipping.

The next day on 1/16 I got an email from them saying they needed me to re-verify my shipping address. I immediately responded. The company is located in CA, so I didn't think it would take long to get to me. On 1/20 I sent an email to see if they could verify shipping because I didn't get any confirmation from them after I re-verified my address. No response.

On 1/26 I sent another email asking WTF was going on since I haven't heard from them. No response again.

On 1/27 I sent another email saying I would be filing an issue with Paypal the next morning (today) if I hadn't heard from them by the end of the day. No response.

So, as I went to file my complaint with Paypal this morning, I notice they have a phone number on file, and thought I would give them a chance to clear things up before I submit the claim. No one answers the first time. I try again - a lady answers and I tell her that I haven't received my shipment. After finding out which one is mine, she said they had the wrong address, so UPS couldn't deliver it. Since they got it back they were apparently just going to hold onto it until who knows when.

Anyhow, she says they'll send it out again, and I told her that this has been a pretty bad experience for me and I was curious what they were willing to do to make it positive (thinking maybe expedited shipping, maybe a free coupler or two - anything). She said she couldn't do anything and that I could talk to a manager, so I said I would like to speak to a manager - so she starts laughing before she places me on hold and gets a "manager."

Here's how this conversation went:

Angry Asian Dude: "What?!"
Me: "Hi my name is Steve. I have had a problem getting my shipment from you and..."
Angry Asian Dude: "Ya, we're sending it out now, you should have it in a couple of days."
Me: "That's good, but I have had a pretty bad experience and wanted to know what you can do so I don't leave negative feedback on eBay."
Angry Asian Dude: "Are you threatening me?!"
Me: "Not remotely. I'm simply wondering if you are willing to do anything to make this a positive experience and avoid negative feedback."
Angry Asian Dude: "I don't care. Leave negative feedback" - at this point the Angry Asian Dude hung up on me.

We'll see if the thing actually shows up. I'm absolutely going to leave neg feedback, but I'm sure he doesn't care, nor will it affect them. I just thought I'd share my experience and warn others of the fantastic customer service they can expect from these D-bags.

LOL I know that lady your talking about. They were always very helpful with me when Ive order things. Even when I orderd the wrong things, they fixed my order no problem.

Your expectations were incredibly high for a vendor selling cheap chinese stuff on eBay- especially performance parts. I wouldn't expect to receive before ten days, maybe ten days at the earliest.

I bought the intercooler pipe kit they sell and it was of same quality most have found here for the pipes, clamps and couplers. I did pay $5 extra for black couplers and when it arrived (20 days to the east coast after purchase) only the straight couplers were black, all bends were blue. I sent an email stating that, and the reply was "we don't have black elbow couplers." Of course that wasn't mentioned in the ad, but I was hardly surprised given I got everything for <$100 delivered.

You're not going to get much service from the guys selling the CDM stuff IMO.

patsmx5 01-28-2009 04:21 PM

File a Paypal dispute immediately IMO. Fuck them.

Cpt_Slow 01-28-2009 04:24 PM

LOL at the non-matching couplers. I don't think my expectations were too high, but I work for a company whose code of ethics is very high and we live by always doing more than our customers expect.

I understand the shipping issues sometimes, but the lack of communication was dreadful. I did laugh pretty hard after Angry Asian Dude hung up on me.

When buying selling on ebay a lot of patience is necessary. I think you over reacted.

By the way you presented the "give me this or I will do that" I am not surprised of their reaction. Nobody likes being pressured into things.

And nothing against "old" Asians but they don't beat around the bush, and they are very savvy business people.

I didn't present it that way at all. I was willing to let him offer a resolution for the bad experience. A heart-felt apology would have sufficed.:)

Saml01 01-28-2009 04:37 PM

Who do you think you called that you could say shit like "willing to do to make it positive ". Dude seriously? They arent a company that is just starting out that they have to kiss everyones ass and like it. Some companies this works on and some dont, you gotta know which.

Go try it on BEGI and see what happens. You think they care? Fuck no, you gonna go to FM? No, why? Because you need their cheaper shit even though they made you wait a month for a downpipe and then sent you the wrong one.

You wanted the MBC for free at the very least.

Dont bullshit a bullshitter.

Yea sure. I wanna see where your ethics are gonna be when you screw up orders, and then people call you demanding shit like you owe them something because according to the customer you purposely fucked up their order to piss them off.

Cpt_Slow 01-28-2009 04:55 PM

MBC for free would have made it a positive experience, but I would have accepted much less - like free shipping...

Like I said, mistakes happen. We do our best to mitigate them, but we're always willing to do whatever reasonable to rectify the situation. We're in a SaaS industry, and sometimes our customers have unreasonable demands for rectification. I wasn't asking for anything more than what I would be willing to give.

I had positive experience with them a while ago. They missed an aluminum FMIC pipe in my shipment. I called them up, explained what I was missing and I had it in two days via Fedex. No complaints here.

It's entirely possible that I just caught them on their monthly cycle.

It's ebay. You get what you pay for sometimes. In your case, so far you've got nothing but shitty service. With some luck, you'll get the knock-off Chinese crap you ordered.

There's a sponsor on homemadeturbo that sells a lot of ebay type stuff. But he's a small time guy. Read-doesn't even have a website. I emailed him for some prices and specs on his stuff. After we emailed back and fourth for 3 days, I placed an order for $330 worth of CDM. He still took a couple days to ship, but it got here after a week and it was exactly what I ordered, and all in great shape. I was stoked.

I could have gotten all that shit on egay for probably 300 shipped, but it would have been much more of a headache, 6 sellers to deal with, 6 shipments to track, etc. And I had questions on parts the egay sellers wouldn't have answered. Mr. Evans, the sponsor on hmt, answered all my questions and even took apart the BOV to verify it was a diaphragm type since I asked and he was not sure. All his stuff was quality and it's all working great so far. It's actually what you'd call "a step above CDM". It's not really from China; it's from Taiwan IIRC.

Anyways, it sucks, but remember you choose to deal with egay. You knew shit like this could happen. No surprise it did. I normally avoid sellers with 10,000+ feedbacks. Most of them are big shots that don't give a shit about their customers.

I almost always ask the seller a couple questions before I buy something, just to see who I'm dealing with. If I get a generic response that is grammatically incorrect and doesn't answer my original question, I don't deal with them. Period. They want my business they'll answer my questions.

Hell, I said this earlier in another post, but BEGI forgot to ship me a part and I had to call them after a week, put on hold, then they "found" my order, billed the card, and shipped it out.

cueball1 01-28-2009 07:48 PM

Everyone screws up with customers now and then. I don't care what business you work for and how hard you try to exceed expectations you have to have a dissatisfied customer now and then. Sometimes it's your fault. Sometimes it's out of your hands. Sometimes it's a flaky customer.

I had a great experience buying a cheapo fmic. Bought it and received it in a couple days. Had it taken a couple weeks it still wouldn't have had me up in arms. It's ebay. It's relatively anonymous. If you are primarily in the business of selling goods on ebay you are likely running on relatively thin margins and doing large volume. Some orders are going to get screwed up.

Take a deep breath and realize this is you breathing. You weren't killed, you were slightly inconvenienced. Live with it.

FHS 01-28-2009 07:57 PM

They're local for me. I called them awhile back to see how much I could save on shipping if I just showed up to pick the stuff up. The short answer was "nothing" because they charge a service fee that is the same as the shipping fee.

There's a ton of those ebay shops within driving distance and I usually just save myself the shipping hassles. Service is definitely hit and miss, even in person.

kenzo42 01-29-2009 12:29 AM

Same happened to me. Angry Asian dude yelled at me and then hung up. Asshole.

This was all because they sent me an intercooler w/ a dented endtank.

I won't be dealing w/ them again in the future.

240_to_miata 01-29-2009 01:10 AM

i ordered my cxracing stuff from etd motors... not sure if its the same people, but i had a good experience. came fast, shipped cheap, and all looked great

kenzo42 01-29-2009 01:37 AM

Everyone who's had good experiences w/ them, then great. However, it's when something goes wrong then their true colors show. The buyer should just hope nothing goes wrong and then all will be fine and dandy. Otherwise, you'll be starting a thread like this if the time comes.

Hi Im Simon 01-29-2009 02:26 AM

i bought some stuff from them a while back, never had an issue.

ThePass 01-29-2009 02:54 AM

fwiw, quite a few of the guys with turbos get their intercoolers, pipes, or elbows/couplers from these guys. Though we often use their website instead of their ebay orders, pretty much everybody's experience with them is positive, not to mention that as they are an ebay company I don't know what exactly you were expecting.. aside from them not being amazingly good with their email contacts and the "manager" not being as pleasant as you felt you were entitled to, I see no issue - you called them and straightened it out, so good for you.. to be honest you did pretty much threaten him by asking him how he was going to "make you happy".. if I didn't care about being professional (clearly he didn't) I probably would have responded the same way.

kenzo42 01-29-2009 03:08 AM

I wouldn't even have been upset if it weren't for his right off the bat angry tone he had w/ me. I was like wth did I do to you. Farkin FOBs.
