FS- MazdaComp brake ducts/shields
2 Attachment(s)
*********THESE ARE FOR NC/2006+ MX-5*********
If you want to buy them and try to make them fit, be my guest. But you have been told. After ZX-Tex discussed with me the problems trying to fit them up, they would require moderate modification to fit NA/NB. Well, I honestly forgot I had these and I really don't feel like trying to make them fit/modifing them and would rather sell to someone who needs them. These are made by SpeedSource Inc. for MazdaComp. BRAND NEW NEVER USED ONLY TAKEN OUT OF THE BOX TO DROOL ON. Add some serious cooling power to your front brakes. *Requires you to disassemble parts of the front hubs to be bolted in place* $100 + free shipping Attachment 203485 Attachment 203486 |
Why oh why do I have to be broke right now?

pending sale pending..
man..tons of interest in these things that I was not expecting. |
Alrighty, these things need to find a home!
Yesterday I noticed a minor detail. On these ducts, there are 4 mounting holes, on a 99 10AE and my 02 SE, there are three mounting holes on the stock dust shields. I don't know if earlier Miatas have 3 or 4 bolts holding the dust shields. Either way, I don't think there would be any problem if you have a drill handy as the spacing away from the rotor is the same. Also, the lip on these usits does NOT surround the lip of the rotor...so rotor size is of no concern. |
sale pending......again lol

Sold, bitches! Good timing. I wanted some of these for the LS1 car.
|
Someone honestly needs to make these for a group buy. Mild steel, spray painted black, and hopefully a pair for under $50. Hustler paid $120, these were $100, seems sorta crazy for what they are and how ugly they can be.
|
Supply and demand my friend.
After taking a closer look at them, I could have used them...but I should be just fine with the Brembos :D Will have that info for you as soon as I get it, Tex. |

High-temp ceramic Duplicolor spray paint + brake temps = OK
You can paint headers with that stuff; It is good to 1200F. |
You're right miatamania, we need carbon fiber brake ducts at $400 a pair. What was I thinking, I forgot the impassible road block of the paint...

Though the original idea of cheaper ones made better sense. |
Where can I buy a pair of these for my 99'?
|
that is kinda crazy considering how simple they are. i've got some piping, i'm gonna have my buddy weld me up some. i love easy mods.
|
I no longer have the ability to do fab work, something that I loved doing for many years. Maybe your buddy can make me a set as well :) I was stationed at Fort Hood for 6 years does that help!

Hell the stock shields could be easily modified too as long as the scoop section on the front edge is sealed off so no need to make them from scratch even. Seems like IIRC someone around here did it successfully. |
i'm gonna see what it take's to make a batch of them. although, if someone wanted a pair for a NB i would need a shield to copy.
|
These are NC actually. Did someone mount them to an NA or NC already?
What size is the inlet? Someone needs to come up with a NA/NB duct, with 3" hose and ABS sensor mounting... |

Yeah, Tex and I figure this out the hard way. Easy misunderstanding due to the way they were presented when I bought them.
Anyway, they're back up for sale... not happy, but I want them gone. Hey Tex, after you tried to fit them, would it be possible to trim them to fit and maybe use part of the OE shield (the area with the mounting bolts) and rivet it to these to allow them to fit NA/NB? Also, it was mentioned that the ducts sit ~ 1.5" off the rotor and i've noticed the NA/NB ducts have more of a "lip" on them, but I doubt this will an issue since at speed PLENTY of fresh air will be making its way to the needed area of the rotor. Like this.... |
Hmmm that is an interesting idea...
Let me take a look at it. I'll try to do that this evening or at least ASAP. |
