FS: NB engine stuff (including injectors!)

Have a complete engine out of a 2003 miata, I am keeping the block and crank, pretty much everything else is for sale.

I also have injectors out of a 2005, with 5000 miles. I'd like to get $50 for those.

Let me know if you need anything.

Ben 06-18-2007 11:27 AM

Good price on the injectors. Someone needs to jump on them. My NB injectors (currently in Atlanta93LE's car) are the tits.

What about the fuel rail itself? I need one.

nester 06-18-2007 11:33 AM

I have the rail too, but it's returnless, so I don't think you want it..

Ben 06-18-2007 11:35 AM

Yup, actually I do, for a good price. :)

MazDilla 06-18-2007 11:51 AM

How about the MBSP & Oil Pan? If those are up for grabs PM me.

steelrat 06-18-2007 12:12 PM

How much for the head? Or is it toast?

Dave,

Yup. Surprising how well they've been working at ~7psi.

magnamx-5 06-18-2007 01:00 PM

Given that he over heated it would be a toss up on the head. From the look of the block it didn't look to horiible though you might get lucky.

Slidin'Miata916 06-18-2007 01:05 PM

are overheating these motors this fragile? When I had my 5.0 it would over heat like crazy after sessions then be perfectly fine. Is there a specfic reason for this?

magnamx-5 06-18-2007 01:13 PM

Aluminum head on our cars vs steel on the 5.0 most likely.

Ben 06-18-2007 01:14 PM

It's never a good idea to overheat your motor, no matter what it's made of. The miata engine is a steel block with an aluminum head. Because steel and aluminum expand and contract at different rates, it's likely to pop the HG or warp the head with an overheat.

Solution: Don't overheat

Slidin'Miata916 06-18-2007 01:24 PM

OHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok. I didnt know our heads were aluminum.....that explains it then. Thanks :D

nester 06-18-2007 02:26 PM

The head is slightly out. When you put a straight edge on it, you can almost get a feeler under it between #2 and #3. It's certainly rebuildable, and it may very well be just reusable with a light touch up from a machine shop. The valve seals do not appear to be leaving, and everything looks to be ok. Cams are still in it.

MBSP? is that the main support thing? I would want to keep that for use in a future build.

Oil pan is available.. it's the one off the 05.. I drilled a hole in it for a oil return but then decided to reuse my old one.

nester 06-18-2007 04:27 PM

Also have a OEM clutch, PP, and flywheel.. 5k miles as well.

Coils are available. I know those are ~90 each new, so make me a reasonable offer.

MotorManiac 07-06-2007 12:38 AM

I would like to get those injectors if they are still available!

"trying" to pm you. lol.

Pitlab77 07-06-2007 12:58 AM

egr pipe and fitting are different than the 99-00 correct?

Arkmage 07-14-2007 09:19 PM

Are you selling the header?

autococker07 07-26-2007 09:02 PM

Is the head taken?

If not, please let me know what you need for it.

y8s 07-27-2007 01:02 AM

actually didn't even think of the head when you posted this... but i'm curious what you'd want for it too.

lazzer408 07-27-2007 03:37 PM

Nester. Sell me that head asap. My big boost build is on hold due trouble locating a head.

y8s 07-27-2007 04:22 PM

What do you mean? I plan on leaving them in the head functioning as VVT. I'll need the manifold too if you have it. I have a stand alone that can control all that.

That's what I was curious about... didn't realize you wanted the VVT. Sorry about coming across otherwise. I even checked your car build out and didn't see a good reason you wanted it *shrug*

nester 08-05-2007 12:59 PM

I have the head, I will let it go with valvecover, intake manifold, etc for like $150 + shipping. I put 50lbs in to UPS going to 90210, and it came back $30.. so shipping to most places should be under 30 bucks.

Let me know.

Buy the car (it's for sale too) and I'll throw all the engine stuff in.

y8s 08-05-2007 01:23 PM

Mine
Sold
Etc

Ben 08-05-2007 01:25 PM

Yeah for real
2nd dibs like a mutha...(and I'm not even sure I can control VVT)

BTW, nester is super good seller.

And PS, DHL is super mad cheap on heavy stuff.

magnamx-5 08-05-2007 01:40 PM

:sadwavey:Nester and Andy leaving us for ever :sad2::cry::cry::sadwavey:

lazzer408 08-05-2007 01:53 PM

Leaving? Where they going? I wanted that head. =(

magnamx-5 08-05-2007 02:01 PM

Andy is getting into a NB and i dunno if he is gonna turbo it and Nester seems to be getting out of maitas after he sells his car very sad.

lazzer408 08-05-2007 02:19 PM

Ah. Everyone needs a Miata. There just too much fun. :D I'm considering picking up another one to do some experimenting on. Engine swap for sure. To electric (I've done this before) or hho (water). Water powered Miata sounds perfect.

lazzer408 08-05-2007 03:35 PM

He didn't get back to me so I figured someone else got it. I just heard from him today. Sale pending.

magnamx-5 08-05-2007 03:47 PM

y8s 08-05-2007 03:51 PM

yup saw it.. lazzer's maybe hookin me up with a backup plan.

nester 08-05-2007 03:53 PM

in the interest of not having anyone hate me, i'll give lazzer the day to buy it now, and then it's up for grabs, first come first serve. ;)

y8s 08-05-2007 04:28 PM

he gets first dibs cuz he claimed it first.. i'll take second dibs if he doesn't buy it.

Ben 08-05-2007 04:31 PM

I think Lazzer needs it most. Y8s at least has a VVT car. I don't need it, and really can't use it, at all...

autococker07 08-05-2007 10:39 PM

Havent been on much

baaaaaaaastard! now PM me that other lead.

nester 08-08-2007 03:09 AM

Short block is now up for sale, as I have no where to store the bastard, and I'll be damned if I'm going to carry it down my steps to the basement.

Any reasonable offer will be entertained.

lazzer408 08-08-2007 04:41 AM

y8s 08-08-2007 10:01 AM

Loki047 08-08-2007 10:59 AM

Third, and Ill come pick it up.

nester 08-08-2007 06:41 PM

I will throw a price out here, and you guys can beat me down on it.. because I'm not real sure.. I'm thinking $300 + s/h if i have to ship it.

lazzer408 08-08-2007 08:37 PM

Considering it was overheated that might be a touch high? I was thinking in the $250 range shipped. Anyone else can pay more if they'd like.

nester 08-08-2007 09:36 PM

Dunno. I don't know if UPS is even an option, as they don't do anything over 150lbs if it's not freight.

I'd take $250 picked up.

y8s 08-08-2007 09:53 PM

a short block, I think, is under UPS limit. complete engine is over.

nester 08-08-2007 09:59 PM

k. i can try and weigh it tomm. i still can't believe the head was 78 lbs.

it was 87lbs in a box with all the packing materials and a whole roll of packing tape..

lazzer408 08-08-2007 10:11 PM

Bottom ends seem to be a dime a dozen, it's the top ends that cost so damn much. If it's cheap enough it could justify shipping but if you have a local buyer I'm sure your better off. Just let me know. Also does anyone know more about the main bearing support plate and what year it was that Mazda stiffened it in the Miatas?

y8s 08-08-2007 10:16 PM

MBSP stiffened? it didn't exist in the miata prior to 01 I dont think.

lazzer408 08-09-2007 08:42 PM

There's some sort of plate in a '97 I know that much.

Of all the things that could go wrong... UPS damaged the box the head was in during shipment. Motherfu#*@#$. -sigh- Hopefully they let me come inspect it tomorrow to see if the head was actually damaged. More engine delays...
