There's a Bipes ending in a few hours, too. I can say that now that it has gotten expensive...

People are idiots. That bipes is 220 NEW from BEGI. I just sold mine for less than that with shipping included. Well I guess the winning bidder will save himself $12.

I was wondering about that, I found a NA RX7 in the junkyard today and it still had the MAF on it, when I saw the T2 on here I wasn't sure if the NA one would even have any benefits. Might go get that thing tomorrow.

Think again. A mid-mileage 1.6 and tranny shouldn't run you more than about $400 for both. There's a guy selling a 1.6 at m.net for $50 right now. The rest of the stuff on the ground is cheap Chinese knock-off crap.

Here's the manifold and all the hardware:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...spagenameZWDVW

Here's the BOV: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...40388910QQrdZ1

The catch can is about $15. The TB and MAF $30 each at junkyards. One brake rotor??? ****-crap set of brake pads and a couple other useless pieces of crap.

He does actually say that it's a Mitsubishi turbo. I call bullshit. Here's his turbo: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DSM-1...39448377QQrdZ1

So, total it up:
Motor and Tranny: $400
Turbo: $340
BOV: $40
Manifold: $240
Catch Can: $15
TB/MAF: $60
Brake Rotor: $30
Other random crap: $30
Total: $1155
Shipping for 400lbs???

The sad thing is, somebody who has never been to miataturbo.net will see this and jump all over it... then come here and say "Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself... I just bought a engine and turbo... do you think I got a good deal?" I won't have the heart to point him to this thread.

Let's not get into the fact that he still needs another $1500 worth of stuff to make it work.

The protege motor can be used in the miata right? I was thinking of pulling one out at the junkyard and just rebuilding it to save. Then boost my stock motor till it exploded. The I can slap a clutch in while its out. Or am I just going to blow my motor and get Screwed?

They're usually not any cheaper, and if they are it's not enough to make the hassle of bringing all the rwd stuff over worth it IMO. There are very cheap Miata engines out there, you just have to shop "carefully".

You can use either the 1.8 from an escort of the protege... but there's lots oh things to swap over from one car to the other... especially note, thinks like temp sensors, might look the same, have the same voltage, but work in reverse from the "stock" ones... don't ask. <G>

Randy's site has lots-o-info on the compability, and what you need to "plug/swap".
