Whew......bunch of bearings out the door. I hate to do it but I'm going to cap the group buy at 50 spots for now until I can get my website up and running. This will also give me a little bit of time to get some inventory built up and see what everyone's first impressions are.

So far I've gotten some feedback, a few of you didn't like the wheel stud install process and it can be a little cumbersome. I've got a DIY stud installer on the way and may include it in the kit in the future for a few bucks. We have had one poverty bearing bite the dust prematurely. It still functioned fine but made metal shavings much like machining would which is odd and not a typical bearing failure. I replaced it under warranty we'll see if there are any others, No other reported install issues after the initial problem found by sonofthehill.

RE: the website

For international customers, something like ebay global shipping would actually be prefered. On your end you just ship the item to their distribution center and thats it. For the customer they get charged shipping and more importantly customs automatically. This makes it not a nightmare scenario for certain countries (in terms of time, effort and expense, as this system skips extra fees a customer usually pays for clearing customs personally). Obviously, you would just add on the cost of local shipping to the final value.

Amazon has a similar scheme but I dont how how easy it is to use.

Struggling to get the studs torqued, though. Need to go buy a couple regular nuts to jam together. Not having any luck with my lug nuts.

Just to give an update to folks as we raced this past weekend- 3 races, won all 3 races in our class.. no failed hubs is a big win too! ...BUT we are going to upgrade to the Timkin bearings (in hindsight probably should have gone with this option to start with) ....nothing catastrophic at all --- just a bit more play than is considered factory tolerance in one of the hubs.. nothing that most people would probably notice but we constantly monitor stuff -- also in talking to a few of the E30 racers, they tell me they stick with the FAG bearings (which is stamped on the Timkin's btw) because they last FOREVER and only need to be replaced if you hit something. FAG Bearings are 'Made in Germany' instead of China so we got that going for us too! My advise to racers is go Timkin-- leave the 'economy' to the autocrossers and trackday folks who tend not to be as hard on their equipment.

SKF was the original BMW supplier, while FAG was OEM replacement based on Bimmer forums.

Installed my kit today. Stud instilation was easy as pie with a bench vice and the rest of the kit went on perfect. Only minor complaint is I can't use the closed end lug nuts I had with the studs, but I knew this was going to happen.

A+ kit, glad I got it.

Update for the rest of the folks on the list, finally got a commitment from the machine shop on the next batch of spacers. They will be in my hands by the 26th. I placed a large enough order that I got some preferential treatment so hopefully things will smooth out from here.

For the folks that are running them any track day feedback? I know Chris and her husband have been making laps and winning races on them. We have had two poverty bearing failures out of 60 that have shipped. One made some metal with no slop, and Chris had one come up with .004" slop but no other symptoms. We're not entirely sure if it didn't have that to begin with. At $35$ replacement cost I still believe these are the way to go if giving up a session isn't a big deal.

Yeah I messaged them well over a month ago and didn't hear back (yet... hopefully?). I'll have to try reaching out again. Tried to order from them when I ordered the fronts from this thread.

I recently received a response from Sean. Looks like they're back at it.

So to clarify, to install these (or to replace the bearings) one has to do ONLY the following:
- Press out E30 ABS rings
- Press in miata ABS rings (after Inner bore machining) to new E30 hubs
- Trim front of E30 hubs just so that the spacer/adapter fits (this can be done with handtools like a handsaw or angle grinder it seems?)
- Press in some form of stud, or just use bolts instead

Correct, that's all there is to it. The abs rings are not pressed tightly so a 2 or 3 jaw puller works fine if you're careful.

The trimming of the bearing is pretty simple but of course I supply pre machined bearings.

How much would it cost to get these without the bearing itself, just all the hardware including bimmerworld studs?

I'm expecting the kit soon in the next batch that Bronson fabs. Questions about the installation. Presumably we need to supply our own grease, what type is recommended? Also should we install a brand new axle nuts and caps while we're at it?

I'm including new axle nuts in the kit, and the spacer acts as a dust cap.

Feel free to discuss grease, I've always just ran whatever was in the bearing but there's no reason why these wouldn't respond like the Miata bearings to good grease.

Also, what's the thread and pitch for the Bimmerworld studs? Same as Miata M12-1.5?

The spacers are steel, so a light coat of grease is a good idea from a corrosion standpoint, it's a good idea for any bearing install since all bearings are steel.
