GT2560R turbo
4 Attachment(s)
Up for sale is the stock single ball bearing GT2560R from a blacktop S14 SR20DET. I swapped the stock compressor housing for a .60AR off of a GT2860R I had from begi. The wastegate actuator is adjustable and the same one begi provides with their kits. I clocked the turbo to fit begi's S4 manifold.
The turbo has around 40k miles on it and boosted fine with no smoke on my S14. The compressor housing off of the GT2860R contacts the compressor turbine when torqued down, a little bit of porting on the compressor housing would let it clear, or the stock compressor housing from a GT2560R. I can verify the center cartridge is a GT2560R ball bearing, Garrett serial # 466541-7001. $300 obo Local pickup preferred, will ship at buyer's expense. so wait! it has a gt2860rs turbine housing on it?
|
Just the compressor housing on the cold side, I pulled it from the GT2860R I had from begi so it would bolt up with their kit.
|
So what was the reasoning for swapping the compressor housing? I may have an interest. The CHRA is siezed? Or did the turbine or comp wheels hit the housings causing it to stop spinning? Do you know any specs?
|
thats what i was wondering!
|
I swapped the compressor housing off of the stock turbo to the GT2860R I had so it would be bolt in for the SR20 (used stock mounting position and intake). Both wheels spun freely when I swapped compressor housings, I still don't understand how it seized, but I can't get it to spin with my hand anymore.
The specs are identical to a GT2560R, 60mm compressor, 53mm turbine. It IS a GT2560R which came stock on S14 Blacktop SR20det engines. |
if the compressor trims aren't identical the profile of the housing could cause the compressor wheel to seize up on it.
|
The above is correct. I'd say, pull the compressor housing and then see if it spins. Let us know!

I feel fucking stupid, you guys were right. I pulled the housing off and the wheel spins fine. It spins freely until the housing is bolted on, the wheel barely clears the housing, but contacts when torqued down. I guess there is a slight variation between the 60mm compressor on a GT2860R and a GT2560R.
I'd guess a tiny bit of porting on the compressor housing would let it clear, that or the stock housing off of a GT2560R. Price adjusted  |
you fail!
|
Is the compressor wheel bent? I'm guessing it is since you torqued the compressor down. I may still be interested in it if the wheel isn't effed. What is the new price?
|
The wheel is fine, it barely touches, just enough to stop it from spinning. The only reason I swapped the housings is the original GT2560R housing bolted right up to the GT2860R, so I though it would work vice versa.
See original post for adjusted price. Like I said it's obo. I'll grab some pics of the compressor wheel to show it's not effed in any way. |
