Harddog Fabrication Low profile Hard top side latches

I got these last weekend as part of a package deal. Turns out I don't need them as the OEM latches work with my sport bar.

If you have a Hard Core bar, these are what you need.

This is a stolen pic, the set I have are slightly different on one side to allow for even more clearance. I'll get actual pics tonight when I can find the camera.

Bethania gets $150 plus shipping. I'll set these on your doorstep for $125.

y8s 07-31-2008 09:49 AM

is the "slightly different" one using a piece of angle iron? if so, that'd be my mod and it is totally reversible.

Saml01 07-31-2008 10:54 AM

Is this for if you have a hardcore none hardtop version?

Savington 08-01-2008 12:04 AM

Or if you have two racing seats bolted to the floor, making the standard side latches a bitch/impossible to use. Hard to justify $125, though. Good luck with the sale.

Saml01 08-01-2008 02:31 PM

^ Are you saying the non hardtop roll bar fits with a hardtop?

Cause if thats what youre saying im gonna be pissed.

y8s 08-01-2008 03:20 PM

it does. be pissed.

the difference is that the bar sits in front of where the side latches would be.

wes65 08-01-2008 03:25 PM

So, my hardtop latches are supposed to work with my hardtop bar? They dont.

GOD DAMNIT TO HELL. :vash::vash::vash:

Had a chance to buy a Hard Dog Single diagonal for 300 bucks and didnt because I wasnt sure if it would fit with the blasted hard top. Even Tom at Bethania told me it wouldnt fit.

All the non-hardtop bars work with the hard top IF you have these latches?

My hard top bar doesnt work with my stock latches.

Saml01 08-01-2008 08:11 PM

This blows big donkey balls. I knew I should bought that roll bar and fucked the latches either way, god damnit.

Wow.... You know, you would think they would be specific about this on their web site. I always ass-umed that it would not CLEAR the hard top, and was not just a latch issue. Looks like it even clears with padding.

Glad I read this before I bought a bar. Thanks y8s

Fuck their site, I talked to the guy who ones the company and he told me it wont fit.

y8s 08-02-2008 12:10 AM

so what have we learned?

we have learned that I am more awesome than bethania. :dunno:

Saml01 08-02-2008 10:42 AM

Apparently.

Its 1 day later and im still kicking myself in the ass for passing up the deal. Should bought it and if it didnt fit just sold the shit.

m2cupcar 08-02-2008 10:48 AM

yeah, no shit... I'm glad I didn't buy yet either.

MX_Eva 08-04-2008 03:13 AM

For others that are confused, or not sure what to do about side latches. you can also get the solid hardtop mounts from safe racer. a more permanent fixture, but far easier to remove even than trying to open the latch with the roll bar in the way.

Or you could just buy these. :)

MX_Eva 08-04-2008 11:02 AM

If I had the money I totally would. My drivers-side latches are worn out, it's particularly bad on the side. These look pretty money, I wouldn't mind being able to still remove the Hardtop with some latches rather than undoing bolts even if I only remove it like 8 times a year.

cjernigan 08-04-2008 11:29 PM

I need to find someone with a hardtop just to see if it fits over my HDHCDD bar. Non-HT bars FTW my head doesn't even come close after the foam extomy.

what, my pictures and personal experience aren't good enough? HDHCDD fits under a hardtop. in an NB.

+1 LOL, fits in my car too.

airbrush1 08-05-2008 11:11 AM

HDHCDD also fits in my NB with a hardtop, and I have the padding and leather cover installed also, doesn't even rub. Just can't use stock side latches.

Saml01 08-05-2008 11:24 AM

Alright, shutup all of you. I feel bad enough already.

kjr50 03-13-2009 11:43 PM

Nice to know, for now...

Was looking to order the M2SportDD hardtop version, but the local stupid ass seller assures that his is exactly that.

Long story short, I scored a M2HCDD non-hardtop version, searched profusely for fitment info since I run mostly with hardtop on. This is going into a NA...not NB as confirmed by others.

Note to PO, didn't mean to jack your sales thread.

in an NB? will it work in an NA? for the M1 version?

It may, it depends. Hard top didn't fit my car quite right with my HDHC. I need to make some mods to it so it seals at the bottom in the back. The guy I bought it from had no problems with his. We both have NAs and HDHC roll bars. Minor differences in bar installation and even the bar itself can cause it not to fit right.

fits under in a NA too. the corners of the main hoop does touch the top every so slightly. but not enough to worry about.

yes it will. see above.

pschmidt 01-26-2010 11:18 AM

Still here. Make an offer, even a lowball one.

wherestheboost 01-27-2010 01:47 AM

sidenote... sometimes...they don't fit. it didn't with mine - the bar (non HT version... HDHCSD) would rub against the headliner. I needed about another 3-4mm of clearance.

turotufas 01-27-2010 03:59 AM

Damn a year and a half later and still no sale. Tough

pschmidt 05-05-2010 11:27 AM

Anybody need these? Make an offer. Trades? Trying to whittle down my unnecessary car parts.

m2cupcar 05-05-2010 12:49 PM

bump for quite possibly the longest active for sale thread :giggle:

I'm tempted to hold onto these just to cement the record ;)

(Not really)

cueball1 05-05-2010 01:43 PM

Timely bump. Always wanted a pair of these but hadn't seen any for sale for a long time.

chpmnsws6 05-05-2010 03:32 PM

75 shipped and I'll take em. Send paypal info via PM if that's cool.

cueball1 05-05-2010 04:03 PM

chpmnsws - your about 2 hours too late. They are mine! Bwa ha ha ha.....

chpmnsws6 05-05-2010 04:26 PM

Congrats on the buy then! I might have to build a set when life slows down..... IF it does :)

It is just my luck! Good or bad.... Its my luck :bowrofl:

ZX-Tex 05-05-2010 06:52 PM

Cueball you were supposed to flake out so I could buy them. I was next in line. Dang it :vash: :)

cueball1 05-05-2010 09:02 PM

Hilarious. 2+ year old for sale thread gets bumped in 09, no action, bumped now and he has 3 buyers lined up ready to go.

Chpmnsws- you need to make these to resell. They'd sell at Mnet and if you created a JDM looking label CR.net guys would eat em up!

chpmnsws6 05-05-2010 09:47 PM

I'll take a look. If I can get some to fit the Kirk bar, it'll fit any other bar. This is the Kirk's only downfall

TrickerZ 05-06-2010 09:36 AM

I have a set of the latches if someone still wants them. I have an aftermarket top that doesn't have the right screw holes, so it has to be screwed in with brackets. I'll dig them up if anyone is interested.

Stein 05-06-2010 09:38 AM

^ Great, here we go for ANOTHER two years, lol.

No way man, you start your own thread and babysit it for 22 months. :giggle:

My latches are sold.

m2cupcar 05-06-2010 01:27 PM

Ok, now that they're sold somebody can starting making them starting here:
