Hydra Nemesis 2.17 with wideband O2 sensor

This is the original Hydra ECU and I ran it for a few years before getting the itch to tinker with something else. (I put the hydra in after running a Tec 3)

I have all the documentation and pinout information you'd ever need to do a custom installation. It will work on any miata (maybe any car at all--I think they're all the same but you'll need to check with Hydra) with the right harness.

My harness is for a 2001 and is not currently 100% plug and play due to some customizations, but I can walk you through setting it up or, if you want, I can return it to that configuration with a little time ($100 deposit up front if you want me to do this, goes toward purchase price obviously).

Kit includes:
* Hydra 2.17 ECU
* Hydra-to-2001 Mazda harness
* Hydra L1H1 wideband
* 100% of the unlock passwords for the ECU
* comprehensive pinout information spreadsheet (which you wont find anywhere else and probably cant easily get from Hydra themselves)
* A little help from me setting it up (restrictions apply!)
* GM boost control solenoid and pigtail
* the original box for some reason.
* Alternator control circuit if you want (I can pre-wire this)
* FM mounting bracket--never used it.
* Custom harness implementation for 2001 / revert to PNP ($100 deposit)

Note: Hydra has mentioned something about upgrades but I cant recall what the details were--contact them directly or contact Flyin Miata.

The unit works fine as-is though and helped me dyno over 250 rwhp at 9.5psi (dyno dynamics plot) and for tens of thousands of miles. It even reliably got me cross country in four days without any issues.

Please help a brother get married and still be able to buy car parts.

$930 shipped+paypal price.

(or $100 + $830 for harness reverted to PNP)

Matt,

Can this be made Plug n' Play on a '99?

im not too familiar with ecu's and wiring. how much modification will it take for the harness to fit a '97.

special discount for VA dwellers and local pickup?

to both of you:

do your harness connectors look like this? (3 different sizes)

http://www.tycoelectronics.com/comme...1-5763-1_A.pdf

if they do, then maybe. but it'll be more work to wire it since your pinout is different than the 2001. might be easier to just get a new harness.

edit: Chances are they are different harness connectors and I'd need the car harness connectors and wires to make it work. it could also be spliced into the harness on your own car but that's less removable.

I've no idea on the '99 harness since I own a 93. Was asking for someone else how might be interested. Sounds like a new harness would be a necessity. Thanks.

99 harness looks different...

ok new deal:
If you get me the harness connectors (pins, housings... or pigtails with 3" of wire) AND the section of the FSM that has the ECU pinout and functions, I'll try to make you a PNP harness for $50. I say "try" because it might be a challenge to find all the info and a base map.

y8s, you can ask FM for the Hydra and ECU pinouts, they have them and they're very detailed. They sent them to me when I bought a Hydra on here that had a '99 PnP harness. I wired it into my OEM harness though. Figure my car is never going to be anything like stock ever again.

You can find good 99 pinouts in my DIYPNP build thread.
I have RotorNut's 99 Hydra harness connector (the side that plugs into the vehicle wiring harness). I have to order Amp/Tyco plugs and pins from onlinecomponents anyway, so I can send this one to you, and build myself another one. $15 shipped should be break even for me. Online components has a minimum order, which I'm pretty sure is over the cost of one header and terminals.

Awesome Ben.

y8s 09-23-2009 10:05 AM

someone wants this, I know they do.

Jeremy @ FM can provide new harnesses and base maps and he tells me that Hydra now has an upgrade path that is pretty reasonable for 2.1 to 2.6. Kinda wish they had it earlier and I'd keep this thing. Oh well, my loss = your high powered miata.

y8s 09-28-2009 09:13 PM

I'll accept reasonable offers... cmon you guys.

DazedandConfused 09-28-2009 10:49 PM

sounds like a good xmas gift for me! you are so generous ;)

y8s 09-29-2009 11:04 AM
