interesting ebay exhaust

$205 shipped...interesting. I might be willing to be a guinea pig. If it were 2.25", it'd probably be ~ equivalent to a 2.5" crushbent exhaust...but certainly better than my stock unit...might not be too bad. Especially if they accepted a lower offer, as their ad indicates they might ;) Thoughts? |
Looks just like my OBX catback. Mine's 60mm fwiw.
|
And how do you like your OBX with a turbo?
|
I think that's the same one that's on the m.net NA forum.... they're using the best offer and getting it for like $155 shipped or something.
If it's the same, it's 2.25" od as measured by a purchaser. I also saw some fitment problems with the tailpipe, but they were able to bend it up to fit by using a big lever. With a turbo, cat, and resonator, you could probably remove the muffler, and have a decent, cheap exhaust that wouldn't be obnoxous. |
Mine's very quiet but sounds very good. Eventually I'll get a bigger exhaust with less bends, but I like it just fine for now.

Ben-if you get any exhaust, feel free to get it shipped to the shop. Might make things easier on ya, instead of having to crawl on the ground like a lizard.
|
I've done a lot of business with performance peddler. They are really nice, and actually answer their phones/emails in a timely manner. If they sell it, I'd trust it.

I have that exhaust. Fitment was perfect. For the money I dont think you could do any better. It was way to loud when I was na, but sounds great now.

FWIW,
a 3" system will increase your exhaust flow cross sectional area by 81% over the 2.25". The 2.25" system has a cross sectional area of 3.91761 square inches, 2.75" system will be 5.9396 sq.", and 3" is 7.069 Sq". i will agree however, it's better than a stock exhaust. |

Rule-of-thumb area losses for bend type (90° bend): mandrel bent: 0% squeeze bent (oem): 30% crush bent: 50% So, the OEM exhaust has an effective cross-section of 1.933 in^2, making the 2.25" mandrel-bent system about twice as large. The 2.25" mandrel system is even ~12% larger than a crush-bent 3" system, and about ~16% better than a squeeze-bent 2.5%. Basically, I'll be getting the rough flow-equivalent of a local exhaust shop mild steel custom job, and for $140. I'm happy. |
Well, before my heater hose burst, this exhaust was pretty nice ;)
Deeper than the stock exhaust, and definitely more free-flowing. Helped spool immensely, and actually smoothed the idle :dunno: |
Does it sound smooth? I might buy one because mine is annoying me.
|
I don't know how it would sound without a turbo, but it's definitely smooth, deep, and quiet with a turbo.
