Mazdaspeed Miata Differential Pumpkin and 3.6:1 speedo sensor
For sale is a Mazdaspeed Miata MX5 differential pumpkin.
This is the Mazdaspeed-specific Bosch Torsen diff. It has the OEM 4.1:1 R&P, but has some chipped teeth from mishandling during shipping. My plan was to swap it with a 3.6:1 Ring and Pinion (P/N MA02-27-110), but time has run out. Also included is a new 3.6:1 speedo sender. Shipping will likely be pretty expensive (>$150), as it must weigh >60lbs and would likely need to be crated or expanding-foam packed in order to avoid more damage, but I'll make it happen if youre interested. Asking $400 OBO + shipping https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...6ba8c8d265.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3f405bab2c.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2e7f7a3f14.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d9d54a5a7d.jpg |
How much for the 3.6-1 speedo sensor? I'm not sure of the p/n and how much the dealer charges

I can get this crated for around $100. Figure shipping weight at 80-90lbs.
Lots of options to ship depending on where you are - Fedex Ground, Greyhound, Fastenal, etc. |

Free bump.
Just to provide folks with some info: a Miata diff will fit in a 12x12x12 cardboard box - get a good strong box from a local cardboard supplier, and shrink wrap the box when it's sealed up. The diff should be packed firmly inside the box with something like packing paper stuffed in every void. No movement is the goal. I usually try to note on the box that it's HEAVY so no one hurts themselves picking it up. I've shipped many diffs across the country like this, not one has been damaged or gone missing. I have a good shipping account, so can't comment on retail prices. The packages usually weigh about 70lbs. I understand this is a hassle and lots of people would still prefer not to deal with shipping a diff. Can't say I blame you. |
Why would someone buy a 3.6 sensor with a 4.1 diff? I would buy the sensor separate since I have plans to switch to a 3.6. But I’m not buying the whole diff, that’s not matched to the sensor, just to get the sensor

Don't fret though, the speed sensor is available separately. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0a0025adf3.jpg |

Received sensor yesterday.
Looks great. Thanks again! |
I've read you can ship these in a 5 gallon bucket like a Home Depot bucket but haven't verified. Of course you'd want to pad the bottom and keep it from bouncing around to keep the bottom of the bucket from cracking. I'm tempted to buy this and take it to the local driveline shop next Spring with my 3.63 gear set instead of removing mine and having the car down for however long it takes them to rebuild it. Plus it'd leave me with my low mileage 4.1 diff as a backup in case they screw it up or I break it if/when I build the engine to run the GT2560R closer to 18 psi, wherever the limit is.

Bump. Name your price.

Did this sell? Is the mileage known? I'm interested as I think I mentioned in a PM. Need to have my 3.63 gears installed into mine but this would make things easier. Have gears installed into this with whatever parts it needs and I wouldn't have to remove the entire diff from the PPF.
