It ran great for the short time I had it running! I only installed it ~4 weeks ago since the car was in winter storage (Minnesota).

I have finally decided to sell the car so I pulled the MSII today. I'm 6'3", don't fit comfortably in my Miata, plus my car has issues. The main two are untraceable dark current/battery drain and the other is the common P0420 code constantly popping up. I had hoped to get it running better and to turbocharge it but have lost patience with this car. :vash: Maybe I'll find a 2001+ in the future...provided I fit with a more aggressive foamectomy or race seat!

The MSII works fine. I installed it, registered Tunerstudio and used VEanalizer to tune fuel. Then my battery died again and I recalibrated the LC-1 wideband O2. Turns out it is probably faulty. VEanalyzer added 10 points to my already fairly rich fuel maps. The LC-1 never heated up when I calibrated the heater and did free air calibration. I don't have the time, nor patience to install another LC-1 and properly tune the MSII, especially on my problematic '99!

So, rather than wait for the next group buy (I waited a year), here is your chance. $625 shipped in the Continental US.

You really overpaid for that. $655...? You could have bought the ms2 and the serial cable and everything else for a little over $500 and then solder it for free. Sorry the car isn't running right

No, I can't. Do you know how many circuits need to be added? Alternator control for one, mods to keep from burning up the coils when flashing firmware, plus A/C control to name a few. BEGI wants $1200 for a similar MSII! DIYPNP doesnt offer one yet for the '99-2005 Miata. Not everybody is an electrical engineer!

This is a GREAT deal at $600 shipped. My car had pre-existing issues with battery drain and and loud, weak IAC plus the wideband O2 I bought is NOT working properly. Innovate refuses to issue a RMA and replace the faulty O2 sensor. There is nothing wrong with the MSII. I'm simply out of patience with my car and changed my plans.

Nixter19, check out the link that Jesse99James posted. This is no ordinary DIYPNP, this is highly customized Enhanced DIYPNP. There are a lot of added features to this ECU other than voltage regulation and AC control.

^ what he said. lots of extra stuff and custom mods/firmware on these. I have a vanilla DIYPNP. I've thought about picking this up and selling mine, but I really don't need to add another project to my already growing to do list... good luck!

on top of that to have one for a 99-00 which is the red-head stepchild of the miata world is even better.

This is a PNP solution for 1999 and 2000 Miatas.

Obviously, when you responded, you knew very little about what I am selling. Later, it appears you may have glanced at the details but you still don't get it.

If you can build your own, great. Go away, build one, and attain your so called "God status". I can read electrical diagrams and solder just fine! It was the additional circuits that were a bit confusing. Plus, I work 60+ hours a week and one mistake, POOF, $$$ down the drain.

AHEM, LOGIC FAILURE! I bought a new NB alternator after I bought the car 2-3 years ago.

+ $130+ NA alternator
= $655+ Not including my time, nor the additional electrical parts and shipping to build the extra circuits.


FYI, DIYAutoTune sells their PNPs for $800

Again, the reason I am selling this is becuase I'm tired of chasing the dark current problem in my '99. The previous buyer knew and screwed me over. Also, it isn't just me that can't trace the drain! I'm selling the car and looking for a '01+. Obviously, this ECU will NOT work on a newer Miata.

I'd include my LC-1 too but it is defective. It ran great for 1-2 weeks until it got stuck reading 20-22 AFR. I have been forced to recalibrate it multiple and Innovate stopped responding. ...another huge reason I am selling this!

There is a mod that stops the coils from burning up when you flash the firmware. You have a lot more reading to do before you build one.

PS, this ECU also had a base map loaded. Most of BEGI's parts are custom made BY HAND. This stuff is probably farmed out which also adds to the expense. My main point was there are VERY few PNP options available and they are MORE expensive.

I contacted those that PM'd me. I will keep you updated. I apologize! It seems I was a bit premature in posting this for sale. Innovate Motorsports left me hanging for a few days. I thought they had stopped communicating and it didn't appear that they were going to issue a return authorization for my LC-1 that is still under warranty.

I hope you can understand my extreme frustration after THREE YEARS of the dark current drain then having the LC-1 fail to work properly hindering tuning my newly installed MSII. :vash:

It appears I finally solved the parasitic battery drain. Also, Innovate Motorsports sent an RMA form. I will be returning the LC-1 and waiting to hear back from them. This weekend, I will reinstall the MSII and the LC-1 for one final test before mailing the LC-1.

Thank you for the interest and support with thread bashing (mods edited most of it out).

Another update. Saturday evening I reinstalled the MSII and LC-1 wideband. After two great days of tuning, I restarted the engine to run and get a RedBox DVD and the engine wasn't running right.

Confirmed, the LC-1 lost its calibration AGAIN and is stuck reading full lean. I connected the serial cable and it won't connect/communicate.

Tomorrow the LC-1 will be removed and shipped back to Innovate. So, until I hear back from them, the ECU sale is still on hold.

I really like the extra power and the ability to tune for a leaner cruise with Reverant's MSII but this O2 sensor crap is raining on my parade! :vash:

If Innovate replaces the sensor with a working one, I'll probably keep the MSII.

Another update.

I returned the LC-1 and Innovate was terrible at communicating. I got it back in the mail and NOTHING had changed...still read extrememly lean.

I called and asked for help. They said it is working fine so I asked "WHY would it suddenly change". I had my fuel map nearly finished and then BAM, next restart and it suddenly read 18-19 A/F!

So, I added fuel to the maps and ordered a guage. At least I'll be able to monitor the LC-1 when the laptop isn't attached. IF this happens again, it is going into the trash and I will sell the MS-II enhanced ECU. I'm tired of wasting time on this unreliable O2 sensor!

After this experience, I would NOT recommend Innovate products. They were telling me it might be caused from an exhaust leak or excessive camshaft overlap. Nope, no leaks, the timing belt hasn't slipped, and I'm not running cam gears or aftermarket cams.

Wish me luck that the LC-1 doesn't act up again after retuning!!!

The LC-1 has been working flawlessly this past week. Tuning it is going well and the engine is running stronger than ever.
