That's an interesting idea - wish I'd thought of that sooner. However I'm too far down path of selling the car now :'(

I have heard anecdotally that CA tries to make it hard if you don't have a car registered in CA. The city of Berkeley I know will not allow you to purchase a parking permit if you don't have CA plates. Also questions re: insurance, about clearly living in CA and having a car registered across the country..
