The only careless, lazy smog techs I have met could care less if you pass and are too lazy to hold your obd2 connector in place. The cat in cali is because if a CHP looks under your car and you don't have one, it = big trouble, unless you have a 75 or earlier. We call it "Gross polluter" pretty hefty fine IIRC. Not that I would drive a modified car on the street.

Last 2 NB setups were boxed up this morning and dropped off at UPS today.

I picked up a beat up 93 today for a very good price. It is going to become the mkturbo 1.6 test car. I am thinking going greddygalant style with it and throwing it in the grm2015 challenge this year.

The good thigns are that the motor is strong, has an ebay header and exhaust. Has a 1.8 torsen diff, and poly suspension bushings. Has a godspeed radiator and is seam welded in the engine bay.

The not so good is interior is stripped and dash is cut, ac was pulled, doors stripped, random **** missing in the engine bay, no rear lower bumper, driver seat is from a 94+ and held in with 1 bolt. In the trunk and passenger seat well was the majority of the stock crap, along with a wing and an extra set of altezza tail lights. Body is multiple colors and has some dents in weird places. The wheels are honda rims with at least 2 different size tires on the rear.

Overall for what I paid and what the plans are for it, it should work nicely for some tomfoolery.

Pretty sure if I hit the Charleston area and asked where all the Miatas are they'd direct me to your house.

Ebay cast manifolds appear to be back in stock as well, what nice timing!

I'm pretty sure the stretched bottom lip of the bumper should be accentuated and a single tooth or a bunch of dip should be in its lip.

I will be making my own manifolds to use. Should be starting soon.

Ohh I have some plans for this thing. It should have a fantastic theme if I can get it done in time.

I vote for the tooth
Looks like a pretty nice beater to me.

Default Last install update for a couple weeks

Finally got everything done and started the car this morning prior to going away for 2 weeks!

For some strange reason I had a hard time getting my GT500 injectors to idle (likely my noobness) last night so I threw in the RX8 injectors I'd been running and reset the req_fuel back. Car started right up and runs as it did prior. No time to run any pulls but will when I get back.

Engine bay - front

Ebay BOV as spec'd in the thread by Lars. Gotta say the sound is intoxicating

Engine bay - hot side

The FM box fits with the brackets lowered 1-1/4". Now I've got to get it back to the welder to extend the stainless shielding. For now I bolted aluminum to it with a heat mat on the inside.

Engine bay - cold side

Not much to say here.

Rear - muffler view

The tilt of the muffler is really not noticeable at all and the sound is pretty nice. Not loud at all and quiet enough that when it drops to an idle you really have to listen to see if the car is running.

I did take it out and ran it a couple miles and the pull in 2nd up is really nice and smooth.

All in all, I'm really pleased with everything. Fit was perfect and no leaks at all.

I had to increase my VE table significantly when I swapped out my stock ev6's for the GT500's. Also had to play with reducing the warm up enrichment a bunch. They are working quite well but the settings are very different my old injectors. Sometimes in ways that didn't seem logical.

Thanks, I'll look at it when I get back. Also noticed, when putting the RX8 injectors back in, one of the inlets into the catch can was open (2 inlets + 1 outlet) so I put the plug in it but not had a chance to see if that would have an effect on the injectors (I'll try it on the RX8 before I do anything).

Update beware of the eBay poly hangers. Mine were slightly melting allowing the exhaust to jump around. I'm going with regular rubber. I've had better luck with it and I can get it locally. Even with the clamp wrapped around it they sag. I'll post a vid as soon as it uploads. I had a couple extra old rubber ones and I swapped two of the five hangers and got a major improvement. So I'll go to the store later and swap them all out.

Have you all ever seen a 2007 mini cooper r56 exhaust hanger? It's rubber, but with a built in strap that acts like a hose clamp. I'm thinking of trying some of these because my hose clamps like to walk off my rubber hangers every now and again.

Mini tax is worse than corvette tax though, there's at least two per mini, gonna try to find used ones...

Interesting to see. I had only been using the poly ones to test fit. I don't have any actual time driving on them.

Are you saying that the melting caused the holes to elongate?
