That is indeed a MS3X from Braineack. I changed the thread title.

Is it possible to plug and play this unit on 99/00?

You would need a different boomslang harness, but yes the actual MS3X is built exactly the same for either year.

Well really you would just need the ecu connector for the stock harness, then you could rebuild the boomslang from the one that's there. Trubokitty.con has the info on where to buy the connector and how to wire it up.

GLWS.

Or... you can get one of these for an "Easier" button and cheap. Had it hooked up in my '2000.
Much less expensive than a Boomslang harness, longer, giving more flexibility for the dumb NB1 ECU location.

True. but you still have to plug and unplug it near-blind under the dash. And the connectors on the OEM harness will start breaking up. I had to do this dance a few times a year to get the car inspected, etc.

Don't pull on wires. throughout the years and multiple ECUs I had in my miata, I probably swapped ECUs in and out hundreds of times.

Yes, under the dash sucks; but we're talking twice every two years at best. But yeah, I guess that's an option.

In my case, I went through a spell of having to start the car on stock ECU, shut it down, put MS in, run an autocross day on MS and repeat at the next event. The car just wouldn't start on MS after sitting for a few days or weeks. It was a combination of several things and it's fixed now. But all this blind unplugging under the dash (while swearing like a drunk sailor in at least three different languages) caused the largest of 3 OEM harness connectors to lose the little plastic locks on the top locking flap (the one that goes over the pins). I think the plastic wasn't designed for all that swearing

The right solution, indeed, would be a longer harness that would allow all this unplugging to be down non-blind and with more leverage/better angles. So I bought a pair of Rotunda breakout boxes for about $30 each as temporary band-aids They worked surprisingly well as such.

I noticed another thread shows a MS3 basic being sold as fitting 01-05. Can you confirm that this works with a NB2 ('03), If so do you also have the GM IAT sensor?

EDIT: To make this plug in play, it looks like I only need to do the following

3H Do I need to change this, the colors are different? Green (MSN) to Orange ('03) Main Relay
4D Add MS-30 (RED) 12v VVT Power
4R - > 4N Move AIT wire from 4R (MSM) to 4N ('03)
4R Add X-24 wire to 4R VVT

Ya, they confirmed it's a MS3x above. I said basic on accident in my reply. If somebody could confirm that my research is indeed correct and all I need to adjust are those 4 wires then I'll go ahead and buy the MS3x from the OP.

trubokitty.com has all the wiring info you need to make the changes. Will take a good bit of parsing to figure out the differences, but doable.
