Selling 1.6L intercooled Bell turbo kit for cheap -who's interested?

I am going to be getting ahold of an older-style Bell Engineering turbo kit that I probably won't be using on my car since I don't necessarily want to boost my car.

So... I'm trying to find out who would be interested in buying it.
It's for a 1.6, it has an Aerodyne turbo, intercooler + all IC piping, Bell FPR, exhaust manifold/downpipe, etc. The kit originally came with a MSD ignition retard device and also a fuel pump but those don't come with the kit - the kit retailed for $3,000

Everything works great - it runs VERY strong on the car it was on - the MSD and pump just aren't included b/c the owner wants to keep them for his new supercharger - the kit was not driven for long, maybe 20k miles - you would just need to buy a fuel pump and some sort of timing control... or just get the kit and buy an E-manage or another type of ECU control and not use the FPR at all. Should be a great deal for an intercooled BELL turbo kit.

It ran 8 psi and put out 178 whp on the owner's car. If you ran an E-manage or similar unit, you cold probably pull more out of it at that boost level too.

Probably would sell it for a little over $1,000-$1,200
Essentially the cost of a Greddy kit but far better design - the DP and manifold are excellent units, much better turbo, and its INTERCOOLED!

Let me know!

Don't have any pics yet since I haven't taken posession of it - I'll probably have it by Monday. Anybody who would be interested let me know. I'll sell it once I have it.

I'd never try to push an aerodyne turbo. As cool as they are there is a reason they stopped production on them.

i'd be interested in the intercooler and piping.

My understanding is that they can work very well at mild boost levels. The main problem that you are going to find is that they don't make that turbo anymore (no rebuilds either). Corky says that he regularly gets calls from people looking for a replacement. There was a brand new aerodyne unite for sale on m.net not too long ago (still in box). You might have the buyer contact that person (for a back up).

Great design though...

I think Pop VII had a lot of experience with the Aerodyne turbo. Maybe he will chime in.

Same thing, from what I've read they are strong at the level of boost they were intended for 5-8psi. As soon as people started pushing the limits the turbos started failing.

Here's an interesting account of someones experience with that turbo:

jeffsl 10-30-2006 02:19 PM

Braineack 10-30-2006 02:29 PM
