Gotta love the "questions & answers"!

These aren't really that good. Plus you have to make sure you have micro USB. Not all Android phones have micro USB.

Really the bigger issue was lining up the rear camera on the phone with the thermal image from the other camera. From only 2 feet away the picture was off over an inch. Very annoying. NOW they could have gotten better over time and this brand could be better than the Flir i had at the time. This was only two years ago. I also could be spoiled by the very expensive hand held Flir we have. Come to think of it, i think the phone one came free with the handheld one. |
Why is it necessary that the IR camera be aligned with the phone's visible-light camera?
I was thinking of just putting the IR camera on the end of a cable, rather than attaching it directly to the phone with a C-Micro adapter. Having done a little research, this is exactly what the manufacturer recommends when using a Galaxy S8: https://www.thermal.com/supported.html |
Hmm. Interesting.
The one i had utilized both cameras to give a "blend" of the image. |
Use a strip of velcro to attach the IR camera to the back of the phone case, a 6" USB C male to Micro B female cable to joint them, and you have a more stable and robust system than just plugging the camera directly into a phone with a USB Micro jack.

I have this camera. It comes very useful while insulating my attic, super easy to find gaps in insulation and hot spots.
I think I paid about the same a year ago. |
Pretty good price based on the trends that CamelCamelCamel tracks: https://camelcamelcamel.com/Seek-The...uct/B00NYWAHHM
