Thompson Oil Filter Relocation Kit

4 Attachment(s)
Thompson Quick-Change oil filter relocation kit. Fits 1999 - 2005 Miatas - PN: TAP 2001-A

Linky: Thompson Oil Filter Relocation Kit for Miata

Thompson Quick-Change oil filter relocation kit with black high-temp hoses and colored (blue with red ring) aluminum anodized fittings. Base and adapter are CNC machined from solid 6061 aircraft grade aluminum, anodized black. All components needed for installation are included with the kit, including a tube of Permatex high-temp thread sealant, mounting hardware, hose protector and even a spare O-ring. Full installation instructions are also included with photos and tips.

This kit not only makes oil changes significantly easier, but also provides some cooling of your oil. Customers have reported oil temps running about 8 degrees below water temps. This is achieved by the filter being mounted away from the block and by the cooling fins on both of the machined components.
I purchased this new in 2011 and ran it on my car with zero issues. Everything is "like new" condition. No stripped threads or strange wear marks on the hoses and no leaks. It obviously does not include the tube of thread sealant or the spare O-ring, but everything else is there. This is the "revised" model with the 1/8" NPT port included in the filter base for an aftermarket temp or pressure sender, or maybe a turbo oil feed? Port is currently plugged. Printed instructions included. Before someone asks, I believe the lines and fittings are -8AN on the filter base.

Pictars!

This kit was NOT cheap (see the link) but its a lot higher quality than the cast aluminum jobs on the market.

I'd like to see $175. This will include shipping via USPS flatrate to the lower 48. Payments accepted via Paypal. Canucks get to pay actual shipping.

hell yeah, this is y8s approved.

Picked up the original version with stainless lines back in the early 2000s and it's been rock solid since.

BONUS FEATURE: you can run larger than stock filters.

Do they make a version for a 1.6? Looks like a really nice part.

Its a super nice piece of hardware. I've handled the Moss one and a couple of the other cast units and they just do not compare to this thing, its a tank. Good clean machine work and nice thick anodizing should keep it looking good about forever.

Does the 1.6 use the same exact oil filters as the 1.8? I would imagine if the filter mounting was dimensionally identical it would fit but I have no way to confirm it.
