Used Artech 1.6 mani,DP,t25 flanged needs repairs!!
bought it about a year ago served me well for that year but I kept having issues with it cracking, the only thing I didn't have was a brace and I'm sure that's the reason it cracked, as for the dp I have no idea what went wrong i have really shitty motor mounts so I imagine after the year of countless heat cycles and vibration it crack as well, It's not in the least bit pretty anymore but it could serve someone well if the have the skills to repair it. Artech would probably repair it, that's always a possibility.
You need to contact him directly as I have not asked him if he would. keep in mind..... ***This is not his fault and I'm not blaming him for the cracks, don't assume it's his workmanship...**** like I said I had no brace... can come with the t25 already on there for an extra 150 this setup came directly off my car, the only thing besides the welds would be the fitting for the block all lines are included and I'll even throw in the hot side I/c pipes/ couplers, clamps if you buy it as a whole. if not there priced accordingly Mani and DP :150 obo??? t25 with all lines, fittings, etc: 170 shipped hot side i/c pipes: 50 + shipping EDITED: If your interested PM me |
Thats really strange that cracked so much. My manifold is the exact same style except angled down for a bottom mount and has not cracked and i've beat the hell out of it. No brace but I think now i'm going to start considering one more seriously.

Do you know if that was welded on the inside of the turbine flange? I'm sorry i'm asking questions in your for sale thread. Just curious because i've heard welding inside the flange will cause this type of cracking.

I think artech varies between inside and outside welding of the flange. He welded my manifold using outside welds, but here's a picture of my downpipe with partially inside weld on the flange.
Attachment 194578 Artech also told me that he is doing a new welding style, and mine was the first. I am not fluent when it comes to welding, but I take it as a good thing. |
Yep. My downpipe still looks stainless. I trust artech's work and I definitely will let people know how my stuff is after a year.

I don't weld my flanges on the inside except for the wastegate dump as pictured above.
Wow, Paul. That things looks like it took a beating. I'm not sure why they cracked that way either. Many of those cracks travel across weld seams, not along them. In that case, I wouldn't say the welds are at fault. I thought maybe the mani/dp were taking the weight of the exhaust, but last time we talked you said that wasn't the case. The weight of the turbo alone won't do this. I wish you would have talked to me before posting this, I probably would have bought the parts back from you just so I didn't have to see them again. $200 is a bit optimistic though, considering you paid $250 for them new more than a year ago. For the record, this is a manifold I made back in Jun 09 before ARTech was created. I didn't mention a warranty when I sold it since it wasn't sold under the ARTech name, but still I repaired it free of charge the first time and only time I knew about it cracking. Even paid shipping. That manifold was made with .109" wall piping, was not penetrated fully, and was not backpurged. The fit up wasn't great either. All those thing most likely contributed to the cracking, though it still doesn't explain why some of the cracks travel along the piping/across the welds. All my manifolds are now made of .145" wall piping, have full penetration, and are backpurged (if stainless). Stainless manifolds carry a full 1 year warranty, while mild steel manifolds carry a 2yr warranty. During that time, I will repair or replace the manifold free of charge. After that, I will repair or replace at a pro-rated price for another 2 years |
