Very CLEAN Holset HY35 (HX35 w/diff turbine housing) pics/video

So I have the cleanest HY35 I've ever seen (beyond a new turbo). No build up anywhere on it, no rust spots no anything.

The HY could be a very potent turbo on a miata engine. It combines the power potential of the HX35w (approximately a gt35r) and a smaller turbine housing (9cm) to promote spool.

Refer to GIANT Holset threads on Honda-tech.com for some of the potential of these things. They are built like tanks for the diesel trucks they are strapped to.

This is basically a HX35w with slightly different compressor housing and a 9cm exhaust housing. Faster spool on a HX35 turbo :) :)

Video of spinning and I also show lack of side to side and up or down movement.

You should be a hand model.

neogenesis2004 05-10-2010 11:23 PM

That must be a newer model. The ones I've had in the past didn't have the vband comp inlet. Looks money man.

crashnscar 05-10-2010 11:52 PM

It's not vband compressor inlet, only compressor outlet

buffon01 05-11-2010 12:07 AM

What flange? T2 or T3? very interested in this

nvm By what Ive seen I need an extra 200cc for this snail :(

Splitime 05-11-2010 07:19 AM

If you build the motor... a miata engine could play with this. I wouldn't honestly bother with a stock motor though. These wake up at about 15 psi and then the wormhole opens and the end of days begins.

Its a standard t3 flange.

TurboTim 05-11-2010 07:42 AM

Hmmm I wonder what this will do on my subaru...hmm. Very clean turbo! GLWS.

It was a typo, eat a dick.

leatherface24 05-11-2010 09:56 AM

Wow this is a great GREAT deal on a badass turbo

TurboTim 05-11-2010 12:26 PM

Wait is this a ball bearing turbo?

Splitime 05-11-2010 12:43 PM

No. At least it shouldn't be. Pretty sure its smooth because it has so few miles on it. Exactly mileage 0 clue though... otherwise I'd share that info.

therieldeal 05-11-2010 12:44 PM

ugh i'd love to put this on my GTR motor, but i'd probably end up blowing something up lol. plus i already own two spare VJ23's...

great deal though. IIRC they are journal bearing.

neogenesis2004 05-11-2010 12:46 PM

Its a journal bearing. Its a beast though. I originally planned on putting one of these on the uber 1.6 I built that Tom now has.

TurboTim 05-11-2010 12:54 PM

Ahh ok. Spins a lot for a journal bearing. All of the garrett journal bearing turbo's ive played with, and also my old greddy mitsu journal bearing turbo wouldn't spin more than a few degrees when spinning them, unless they had hot oil in them (like if I just shut off the car and tried spinning them).

Splitime 05-11-2010 12:57 PM

From how clean it looks inside (looking through drain), I wouldn't be surprised if it was on a car for not even one full oil change. I also think it looks like it spins alot longer in the video than it really does, trick of the eye vs frame rate.

yunvmyegt 05-11-2010 08:05 PM

i want one of these, let me see what i can scape up quick.....

mikeflys1 05-12-2010 01:23 AM

Well, I have been looking for a ginormous turbo for the next iteration of my buildup.

Fuuuuuu, I'll take it.

mikeflys1 05-12-2010 01:27 AM

Thanks Jon, for sending me the link to this......dick.
