Another dang launch control question

You all have probably answered this already. I searched "launch control problems" and "launch control in gear" and i couldn't find it. However, i am somewhat lacking in my search skills. I connected jumper 12 and 13, and when i enable launch control, epic fail when my car has the clutch pushed in, in neutral, or first gear. Clutch out in neutral... no dice. However, once i have pulled out, and am proceeding to accelerate in gear, (in gear....clutch out incase your not following) the shit works. WTF? Did i wire up my neutral switch backwards when i put my trans in? Maybe thats why my cruise doesn't work either, but cruise control is for pussies. Anyways... i need launch control, and not cruise control.:crx:

Sounds like flat foot shifting is working but not launch control. Check your settings again. Make sure the RPM settings are correct and use the help on F1 if necessary.

The launch control will not work when the clutch is out all the way. Your RPM limiter is in effect during those conditions.

Flat shift is off. It quits limiting it at 2800 in gear when i dis engage the launch control.

i thought there was a set of wires that came from the trasmission that had to be bypassed too? its been a few years since i did it.. i think its a switch that can tell if your in nurtral or not

Launch control is TPS based. If you don't have a calilbrated v-tps, then you won't get it to work properly.

Flat shift is only rpm based, so it might work outside of launch control working--I've never tried that before, but it sounds like what's happening here.

chicksdigmiatas 02-09-2010 01:56 PM

its working. but only in gear. ill check it out more and post, i am at work.

chicksdigmiatas 02-09-2010 08:19 PM

Ok, i just screwed with the launch control tps thing, and disengaged the flat shift. So now it just does it all the time in gear out of gear with out regards to the clutch switch. It works, because the car wont start without the clutch pedal pressed.

Ben 02-09-2010 08:34 PM

The car has 2 switches on the clutch. The switch at the bottom of travel is for starting. This one does not matter so much. The switch we care about is at the top of the travel. It disengages the cruise, but in our case also arms launch control.

Sounds like you have a problem with the top switch or its wiring--and that is why you have neither cruise nor LC. You can test the theory by looking for continuity between the launch control jumper and ground.

Ok sweet, Ill get to checking. Is it to where someone with say size 14 combat boots could kick the crap out of it and never know? lol.

rweatherford 02-09-2010 09:19 PM

Yes. ;)

chicksdigmiatas 02-10-2010 04:32 PM

Well, if it is the one with the brown and black wires going to it looked ok, and everything was hooked up. If I disconnect it, in theory, the cruise would work, and the launch control wouldn't right? Also, I have rummaged around and seen more stuff about the neutral switch on the trans. I have a different trans in my car, I am not even sure about what year it is, all i know is i paid 100 bucks for it and it worked. I know one is for the back up lights and one is the neutral switch, if my memory is correct, one is green and one is red wires. Which one is it?

chicksdigmiatas 02-10-2010 10:57 PM

I unhooked the said switch, and launch control remained on. So I thought wait a minute, it could be completing the circuit when the clutch is engaged, so i jumped the wire... still nothing. So trying the connection open and closed rules out the switch correct? Whats next?

Ben 02-11-2010 02:41 PM

You have the "out" side wire from the switch shorted to ground somewhere.

chicksdigmiatas 02-11-2010 07:31 PM

Ok, i really don't know where those wires run, but lifts are only 5 an hour on base, so ill get around to it when i have more time on my hands, i'll keep you posted though. Thanks.

Ben 02-11-2010 09:02 PM

I would test the clutch switch for functionality with a multimeter. If it's good, then it is probably easier to just run a new wire from the "out" side of the clutch switch to the ECU than it would be to trace the original wire to find the fault.

I would recommend installing a little toggle switch on the new wire that you run. That way you could turn launch control on and off at your whim.

chicksdigmiatas 02-11-2010 09:07 PM

The out side is the brown wire correct? And the switch just grounds the connection when it is let off?

ubenpdon 02-14-2010 04:46 AM

There is a diode in that switch so, make sure you get the right wire... Mine was the same way and i just ran a brand new line to the ecu to fix it...

I had that problem too, what if did is: connect pin 12 to a push button and pin 13 to the other terminal and it works,
if you put pin 12 too one teminal and other end to good chassis ground like the manual say's nothing will happen!!
it works only when pin 12 and pin 13 are shorted together,
i have emailed diyauttune about this,i am waithing for answers!!!
