Car runs lean, barely idle, rpm bounces -MSPNP2
 

I cant figure out what to do.

all stock 95 miata.
mspnp2
lc-1


car will run if you feather the throttle, but will die soon afterwards when rpm drops.

when you give it gas, the lc-1 shows 10-12, but once i let off the throttle, the car will bog and the lc 1 will show 19-21.x and die

im still getting used to using Tuner studio.

i have VE analyze and the autotune function but i really do not know how to utilize this!

If i disconnect my MAP hose and create a vaccuum leak at the manifold, the car will ide perfect but run a little rich...


please help me figure this out?!?

have you calibrated the sensors? is the map sensor set up correctly?

i calibrated the GM IAT, and the lc-1.

im running the stock o2 and wbo2, im using the signal wire an jumped it off the stock o2 sensor

how would i calibrate the MAP in TS?

I'm sorry but you need to read. This isn't the typical "Search noob" post. Stuff like this is documented very well, and if you want to succeed in getting your car to run well you need to put in the leg work.

Find Fuel VE table 1. Increase the numbers in the area around your idle. 800-1000 rpm @ 20-40 kpa probably.


You seriously need to do some reading around this site and others before moving on, though. If this is stumping you, you might be in over your head.

can you tell me how auto tune works on TS?

do i just click "start auto tune" and itll do the rest?

Adjusting the idle cells in the fuel map will solve the idle problem, but if you're still on the basemap then you're entire fuel map is going to be off, not just the idle cells.

Under "Basic Settings" and "Engine Constants" you can adjust "Req_Fuel". This adjusts your entire fuel map to your motor and the size injectors you are running. You want to adjust Req_Fuel so that your car will idle at ~14.7 AFR.

If you haven't adjusted this yet, go in enter your specs, take note of how Req_Fuel changes, and see what it idles at. If you have done this before, then calculate it again with a smaller injector size and see what the car idles at. You can then tweak Req_Fuel to get the car to idle at 14.7 and that SHOULD get the rest of your fuel map safe enough that you can start tuning.

Where are you located? If you can find someone locally to show you the basics it helps drastically.

How does Autotune work? or how should i go about using it?

Autotune will simply scale your VE table to your air fuel targets, so if you don't set those up then it won't give you what you want.
You need to make sure your required fuel is right then open the VE Table and start the car. If it runs lean at idle then you need to adjust those cells where the lil green dot will be hovering around.
Once you get the idle straight then double check your timing. Set the fixed timing to something like 15 degrees and check with a timing light and if it is off adjust your trigger angle until it reads correctly, then change that 15 degrees back to -10 so ms will use the ignition map.

After you have done all of this then you click autotune and go for a drive
