Fitted Mspnp And Aem Uego Controller Little Help..

1 Attachment(s)
ust got back from installing my MSPNP on my 94 1.8 (standard CAT and all except for HKS induction) with out MAF.
Car running on Shell Optimax 98ron

IAT has been wired in as per instructions, all the equipment is brand new

Wired the (AEM 30-4100 UEGO) off the earth and live from the stereo and wired the white <analog output> to pin 10 on the MSPNP (0-5 volt output)

Pin Number Connection
1 through 8 Breakout header
9 Electronic boost control
10 Alternate O2 Sensor Input (for wideband o2)
11 Input for KnockSenseMS knock box
12 Launch Control Input
13 Clutch Switch connection for launch control
14 Not Used
15 Reserved
16 Reserved

Opened Megatune and changed the Configuator to show "set AEM_NON_LINEAR AEM UEGO Controller AEM-30-230x".

Car started and talked to the laptop first time followed the instructions about setting the timing for a timing gun all good.

Idles fine sounds good except the AEM read 10.0 on idle and only comes a live on deceleration when driving is this normal?

Although i haven't pushed it hard it seems to drive fairly well

Questions:

The manual talks about "disconnect the stock oxygen sensor" is this found in the CAT? if so i didn't disconnect this.

I'm i ok driving it like this while i sort it?

Attached is a image of the dials on idle and a data log file of me driving it gentle:

data log

Attachment 208824

Any help would be great

thanks in advance

Phil

wait, so where exactly did you install the UEGO 02 sensor if you haven't removed the stock one?

If your wideband is actually in your exhaust pipe, then yes, 10 is way too much fuel, you need to tune it.

Tremiata 01-26-2009 03:13 PM

Did you read this? https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t28005/

Also its AEM_LINEAR not NON_LINEAR

Mxslide 01-26-2009 03:44 PM

sorry i didn't make any sense, the WB02 is fitted in the front pipe but i thought there was another sensor in the CAT.

Tremiata; i will make the change and read through the thread, but does the earth on the gauge sound ok im aware the fuelling up the spout at the moment but would you expect the gauge to behave in this manner?
"Idles fine sounds good except the AEM read 10.0 on idle and only comes a live on deceleration when driving is this normal?"

made the changes as stated in the above post, i think i'm going to change the earth point and run a wire back from the ECU earthing point in the engine bay and see what that does for me.

I still not convinced its talking to the MS though although the data log shows some spiking from the WB02

I wired my wideband into the same cable as the stock O2 sensor (there is a plug next to the coilpack). This way I disconnected the stock one automatically. I didn't use pin 10 at all.

If you have both PIN10 and the stock sensor connected then the voltages will conflict, you won't get any sensible readings.

Tremiata 01-27-2009 12:31 PM

I disconnected the stock O2 sensor completely. As for grounds I am not convinced mine are great. Going to probably route the ground to the engine grounds or to the battery direct.

ok, to answer the important things in this thread:

1. the second 02 sensor behind the cat, don't worry about it, it makes no difference if its there

2. running 10 AFR most of the time means you are running too much fuel. if you don't know how to correct this, you have no business tuning it yourself and need to do a lot of reading or get it tuned somewhere

Mxslide 01-27-2009 05:28 PM

Removed the connector from the sensor in the CAT, adjusted the EGO Switch Point down to 2.35 in line with manufacture info for the correct afr.

MS still isn't showing any reading from the wideband sensor. Started adjusting the VE table so that it idles at 13:4 using the gauge i'm surprised at the fuel values set on the base map it seem to run better not so rich.

any ideas on the gauge not talking to MS?
Also i'm not sure the IAT is working now as the manifold intake temp never changes its always 43oF

any help will be greatly appreciated

are you sure you are using pin ten? if you are going by the tiny numbers on the harness clip they are not the right ones. find the wire in the center harness that feeds 5v all the time. disconnect your uego wire from the center harness and test the MS with that 5v reference wire. turn the ignition on and open megatune. send 5v into pin ten and see if it goes dead lean on the guage in MT. if you have the correct pin. . . it should

Mxslide 01-28-2009 02:47 AM

thanks dynokiller thats what i did count the little numbers on the clip to find pin 10, i will try this time with the voltameter hopfully this will crack it......

That is the pinout for the middle connector looking at it as you plug it in if I remember right. At first I wired mine to 15 and got nothing (obviously).

Mxslide 01-28-2009 03:07 PM

cheers for your help chaps i had it wired into 15 and not ten. MS now reads the WB and the difference in the AEM gauge and MS is almost spot on hardly any difference which is good.

Last thing now i'm convinced the IAT is working correctly TunerStudio MS shows the Manifold Air Temp as -40oC and its not that cold here across the pond.
But MT shows a value of 43oF.

Also the water temp soars really quickly from cold to 199oF and the fans stay on constantly.

I will double check the wiring on that tomorrow.

Mxslide 01-30-2009 04:20 AM

Well looked like i wired the IAT connector worng (the pins were not touching so no reading). Now the Manifold air temp is adjusting which is great just need to sort the VE table thanks for your help

OK, so are you talking about the MSPNP extra connector in the middle of the two factory connectors? So the numbers on the connector are not the correct ones to follow? I am having the same issue and may have to swap the wires...

Looking at it plugged in to the mspnp?

Hah! I had the same problem but now my Gauge and Mega Tune Gauge are not the same.. My Gauge shows around 15 and mega Tune gauge shows high 13's is there a way to calibrate the megatune? I am actually using inovative 0-5, 1-20 but I have a generic
5v wideband and gauge. If I go to Other Generic WB in the configurator the values are even worse.
How do I go about using Generic in Configurator and setting or calibrating it to match my gauge so I don't have to mess with the inovative settings?

Bryan858 08-14-2009 03:36 PM

Nevermind... Solved this issue...
