A FIX for MS1 users (having trouble with AEM Wideband o2 calibration)

Hello,

It sucks for us MS1 users when our AEM wideband or any other 1-5v wideband o2 sensor does not match up with tunerstudio or is just reading slightly off.

Reason being that we do not have the "calibrate AFR" tool that allows us to just enter 2 data points like ms2 and up users can in their program.

After having issues for some time and chatting with LT401vette (aka Phil tobin from EFI analytics). Phil went through and somehow changed the ini file to have the MS2 and MS3 "calibrate AFR" tool in my ini file.

Hes such a nice guy for doing so and here are the instructions and the attached link to the thread and the ini file so you can have the tool as well. <-----link to file here

like he says it is best used with the beta version of TS (ver 2.5.19)

The ini with a Custom Linear Setting is attached.
However, it works best with version 2.5.19+, so I bundled the new ini with the 2.5.19 beta update.

If you use it with an older version it will work but changes to the calibrations won't take effect real-time for your AFR tables. It will be fine for the afr gauge and data log, but you won't see the calibration effect to the AFR table until your reload the project.

If you install the beta, to change to the new ini:
- Open your MS1 project in TunerStudio
- Open Project Properties (Press CTRL+P)
- On the Configuration Tab, Click "Show Advanced / Offline Setup"
- In the ECU Definition Drop down, select "MS1/Extra format 029y3*********"
-------> Important: This will already be selected, it will be the last selection in the drop down. You don't want the last one. Look up the list for the same selection that is NOT at the bottom. The Bottom selection is always simply the ini file that is currently used by your project. The listings above that are from the TS libraries.
- Click Ok.

Now your project should be on the new ini.

To use the new "Custom Linear Wideband" option:
- Open your MS1 project in TunerStudio
- Open Project Properties (Press CTRL+P)
- On the Settings Tab, Under EGO Sensor Selection, selection "Custom Linear Wideband"
- Click Ok, the project will reload.

Now you will have a new Menu Selection under Tools called: "Calibrate AFR"
In this dialog you can set the voltage and AFR for any 2 points and all other points will be linearly interpolated as they are for the custom linear option that is written to the MS2 & MS3 lookup tables.

is that still high-res code?

or you could have done the fix we did back in 2006...

but i will say that being able to calibrate in that manner is a much better solution.

I'm going to bump this with a huge "thank you!!!" I bought a 2009 Westfield (Lotus 7 replica) that uses a Miata drivetrain and MSPNP1, and it was running very very rich. The AEM 30-0300 was recommended to me to replace the narrowband sensor that was in the car, and I could not get TunerStudio to report the same numbers that the gauge was seeing. After lots and lots of searching, I discovered this thread and learned how to make TunerStudio let me set custom wideband points. Eureka, I'm back in business and auto tune is actually working.

This was incredibly confounding to me for far too long. The setting recommended here has been a life saver; thank you!!!
