Important Compatibility Info: MSPNP on 94+ 1.6

This is stated on our website, but as this is something that I had to deal with today, I'm hoping that spreading this info around may help prevent future incidents.

If you drive a 94-97 1.6 Euro Miata and would like to install a MSPNP ECU, please please please order a MM9093 ECU. The Euro 94-97 1.6 Miata wiring harness is very closely related to the 90-93 1.6 cars, and quite different than its contemporary 1.8 counterparts.

If you install a MM9495 or MM9697 ECU into your 94+ 1.6 Miata, you will badly damage the ECU.

Conversely, we have not had any trouble running our MM9093 ECU on these later model Euro 1.6 cars. What we have seen is that non immobilizer equipped 94-97 Miatas are plug and play with the MM9093 ECU, while immobilizer equipped cars need to have 1 wire moved in their harness, as the immobilizer intercepts the fuel pump trigger. (This information shared in good faith and is to the best of our knowledge).

If you require any further clarification on this or any other pre-purchase advice, our email address is websales@diyautotune.com .

Thanks

there is not really.
I have a 1.6 97īs and the inmovilized is not in the fuel pump, is in the CAS. I had to install a wire from CAS to the ECU pin (i donīt remember which one).
And 1.6 *94 has secuential injection, you need to swap to batch injection. Thatīs all.

The outputs for all four injectors are included in the '90-'93 MSPNP as a few of the '93 models had sequential injection.

then, only the mod in the inmovilized.

Updating this thread based on feedback from European customers.

The wire that needs to be moved is wire 2F. It needs to be moved to 2E. This is not a fuel pump wire as previously reported, but is the CKP wire from the CAS. As far as I can tell, this applies only to Euro market 94-97 Miatas with 1.6 and immobilizer.

Please also note that Euro-spec 1.6s after 93, i.e. 94-97, also have sequential injection from the factory, like the 90-93 CA cars. I don't know if the MSPNP9093 can be used as-is on these cars, Ben will need to clarify this.

Yes it can. This is not a problem.
