Injectors 1&4 dead after VIPs install

2 Attachment(s)
Ok had ten minutes tonight to try and find the misfire on the turbo banana.

After getting the Vtps calibrated last week upon starting the car again it has now started to run lumpy, pulling leads reveals spark however if I touch all the injectors I can only feel 2&3 pulsing?

Car drove into the garage fine, the only thing changed has been opening the box to switch the jumper to enable Vtps operation?

Car is fitted with Bosch EV14 670cc injectors.

The car is fitted with an immobiliser and this makes me wonder if when I have been moving the ecu if I disturbed it's connections?

Do these look stock, the insulating tape wrapping them tells me not

Anyone got any ideas why 1&4 would just suddenly drop out?:vash:

First of all, What you see in the pictures, is stock wiring. Those 2 wires that have the tape are shielded and the tape covers the shield- wire to ground connection.
Also the injector outputs connected to those thick yellow and yellow black wires.

Your problem sounds very frustrating because injectors are wired in batch 1-3 and 2-4 so we can't say that there is an injector output failure of faulty wire on ecu side, as the failed supposed failed injectors are in different batches.check all your injector connectors' white-red wire pins for 12v presence while having key to on position so you can be sure they are powered and then we can move on in further investigation.

Will jab with meter tomorrow, only had brief moment to tinker today,
The solenoid click on these is pretty strong hence finger tip test tonight leads me to believe 1&4 are not pulsing.

VIP mother fucker!

Very Important Parts =D

OK so todays poking reveals 12.7v on the White/red wire across the board with ignition on and its is present whether the immobiliser is active or not, so rules that out the equation.

Also tried reverting to older save point but same problem?

Can you post a data log of what's happening and a copy of your MSQ?

Do the 1 and 4 injectors fire in Output Test Mode?

Turbo Banana 03-26-2014 10:04 AM

Will run a log tonight in the garage, alas cant drive it in its current state, or at least i dont think its a good plan.

For output test mode, am i correct in thinking best method would be to remove plugs?

Still very new to the MS system and feeling my way around. With plugs out it cant flood bores though?

car is here at my household underground parking garage so i have limited tools to hand for removing injectors or the rail. And my main workspace is other side of town =(

I do have my electrical box and basic socket set here though.

I'd unplug the fuel pump fuse for injector testing.

Well it seems after much tinkering and fiddling it came back to two of my new Iridium NGK having a piss poor spark.
Plugs were quite black so it seems auto tune has left me a little on the rich side,
but however i have 4 cylinders back again. after some cleaning.
Kind of a strange coincidence the 1 and 4 both went at the same time and given that it drove in to the garage fine but i guess the short run home on its last outing didn't get it off rich mix.

Thanks again i shall return to my world of searching info before posting again =)

Thanks for all the help guys and sorry to have brought this up
