Default flex fuel settings

MS3Pro Plug and Play MM0105 for the 01-05 Mazda Miata. So do i intercept the clutch wire? option port on the back as clutch input?
this is what the manual says that came with the unit.

Flex Fuel:

Instead of launch control, the "Launch control input pin of the option connector may be connected to a GM flex fuel sensor. To enable this, turn off launch control and go to Extended → Flex Fuel Sensor. Enable flex fuel and set the sensor port to FLEX. The frequency numbers are set up for a stock GM (or Ford Taurus) fuel composition sensor. The low frequency represents the sensor output with pure gasoline, and the high frequency represents pure ethanol. The MSPNP Pro will multiply the pulse width by the Fuel Correction number determined by the measured fuel compensation, and subtract the Timing Correction value. Since the Timing Correction is subtracted, negative numbers will advance the timing.

I'm far from an expert on this, but I'll throw in my $.02 until someone smarter comes along. On ms3 I think you really want to use flex blending rather than the fuel/timing multiplier that ms2 used.

My car is set up to use fuel and spark table 1 on anything below 10% ethanol, then fuel and spark table 3 on anything over 85% ethanol. It will the blend between the tables at anything in between. I'm out of town right now, but I can post a tune up in a couple days if you want to dig through it and see how my car is set up.

When you look under launch settings now, is it set to use the flex input? Typically these are independent of each other, so one does not affect the other, but I'm not familiar with the pnp pro. What you posted makes it sound like you use one or the other. Hopefully someone else can clarify.

I have been running e85 with out the sensor. But I was giving one from a friend and plumbed it all in.and hook it up to the clutch input pin on there rear connector. Seems like that's what it's saying. But I am not getting a reading. Turned off lunch control turned flex on and check it's set up for the gm sensor. 12v when key is in and it's grounded. I read the ms3 manual not the pnp that also came with it but it shows it has its own flex fuel wiring. I am sure I am over thinking this. I used the search on here under the pnp but nothing on this came up.

And additional info on this? I am getting conflicting info reading the MSPNP pro manual vs the 01-05 Installation Instructions manual which shows the options connector diagram ( it doesnt list Flex/Boost/Tacho) When the MSPNP manual mentions all of these.

I am looking to hookup a GM Flex sensor, DIYautotune EBC, and need a tach source this weekend so help is appreciated.

The instructions are confusing for sure, and pnp pro setup is different from how rev and brain built units are set up (simply and intuitively). I’m working on setting up Muthagooses pnp pro right now and will try to throw together a quick “how to” if I have time. Definitely can’t find one searching around

Just wanted to follow up and confirm that switching to fw1.5+ on muthagoose's car appears to have gone successfully after confirming with Matt that the pro's ship with old fw but should be able to be updated, here:

Finally he appears to have the proper menu's to start setting up flex fuel, because fw1.3 flex features are terrible and should not be used.

Awesome, yeah the Firmware upgrade was very easy. I’ve read about unplugging the coils to prevent frying them. But wasn’t sure if these newer units actually need this done?

Also to close out the TACH question, I pulled this from the stock wiring ECU PIN 30 Green with an orange stripe. It’s on the middle sized of the three harness connector, bottom row, to the right of the gap in the pins. As far as I’ve seen the 01+ PNP unit doesn’t have a tach output on the optional connector.
