MS2 for an MSM engine in a 99 - Halp!

Ok, I am a bit confused..... Ok a LOT confused. I have searched, googled and questioned.. But I am just getting more confused from the conflicting answers I am finding. So I am hoping one of you all can give me a solid definite answer.

I have a DIYPNP MS2 kit for a 99-00. I am going to use it to run a 2004 Mazdaspeed motor and stock turbo setup. I plan to use the 99 Intake for the VICs, a 99 engine harness and the MSM factory coils.

Exactly what all mods do I need to do?
These are the assembly instructions I am following currently.
https://www.diyautotune.com/diypnp/d..._assembly.html

Please and thank you very much!

mods to what? the megasquirt? why would you need to mod the megasquirt? as far as it knows, it's controlling a 99 engine

viriiguy 07-31-2015 09:50 PM

Well, as I understand... There are a few mods that have to be done to it , for it to control a 99 engine. But I am not 100% sure of what all those are. It looks like I have to build a circuit for the Alternator. That one seems to be universally agreed upon. Also, It seems like there is something I have to do for it to control the AC and the VICs? And I am not honestly sure what else.

So rather than continuing to sift thru old documents and conflicting info, I figured I would ask the experts on here for a definitive answer.

is it a pnp unit or isn't it? you're so confused you're confusing me.
if it's a unit for 99-00, that already worked on a 99-00, and you're installing it into a 99-00, and just using the msm long block it should work (after you figure out the coil pack vs cop wiring)

viriiguy 08-01-2015 07:06 AM

It is the DIYPNP Kit... This one to be exact.
DIYPNP Nippon Denso 76pin Unassembled Kit DIYAutoTune.com

So I am in the process of building it. Actually I am just about finished with the initial build.

*Edit*
I just realized I guess I put this in the wrong section.

youll need a different harness connector for starts...

the 97-00 harness connector does not match the 01+

viriiguy 08-01-2015 10:17 AM

I'm using the 99 harness.

abenson100 08-01-2015 12:54 PM

i think he was referring to the engine harness in the engine bay. you will need the engine harness from a 99 and use the 99 sensors and wire in what you need to control the MSM engine.

18psi 08-01-2015 01:56 PM

ok let's get this straight:
-you have a 99-00 pnp ms
-you have a 99-00 car with original harness
-you want to use both the above to control a MSM long block
......sound about right?

viriiguy 08-01-2015 02:02 PM

Yes. This sounds right.

18psi 08-01-2015 02:23 PM

so the only modification, if any (and this part someone else will need to confirm), will need to be to get the 99-00 ms to run the 01-05 COPS.

viriiguy 08-01-2015 02:42 PM

And the alternator charge circuit, right?

18psi 08-01-2015 03:04 PM

Why? It should already have the alternator set up, and there's no difference between alternators in 99+
I already told you this in the other thread

viriiguy 08-01-2015 03:06 PM

Diypnp themselves said I have to build the alternator circuit in the proto area. The ms2 doesn't have the ability to control it, built in. Be it a 99-00 or an 01-05.

18psi 08-01-2015 04:17 PM

omg I give up.

viriiguy 08-01-2015 07:03 PM

*sigh*

I think the biggest source of confusion is that you're posting about a DIYPNP in the MSPNP forum - the two are somewhat different critters. And you are getting responses that are appropriate for an MSPNP, but not a DIYPNP.

concealer404 08-03-2015 10:23 AM

Sounds complicated. Use a 94-97 alternator.

Yea I realized I posted this in the wrong sub-forum.. But it was too late.
Thanks. I SEEM to have figured out everything I need. But I sure wish I could find a picture of the circuit built... Rather than just the schematic. I can read a schematic.. but have a hard time visualizing them properly.

18psi 08-03-2015 06:54 PM

Ahh, well now I understand the confusion: I kept thinking pnp which requires nothing except plugging in and tuning, and you've got a non pnp unit that requires wiring in and building extra boards to control stuff like the alt.
