NO MAF: Novice question

It's time for me to be a noob with a topic I really know nothing about. I spent about 3 hours searching but couldn't come up with anything...

I am running without an MAF on my new 94 PTE miata race car and just installed a MS PNP. I selected '94/95 No MAF' project file and started messing with basic things. However, the car is running horribly and I have a feeling that I must do more to tell the ecu that I am not running an MAF. Through searches, it seems that I might have to flash an updated firmware to the ecu that supports the GM IAT. Is this correct? If this is correct, can someone point me in the right direction as to where to download this update, and instructions on how to flash it?

Please tell me you installed the actual GM AIT sensor and wired it to the MAF. If you didnt do that then sir youre an idiot, and if you did I only read like the first sentences.

GM IAT is wired to pin 3 and 4 on MAF wiring harness. Just opened up MS folder, ms9495 no maf, went to download_firmware and opened it up. Downloaded it and flash to MS, loaded the Msq back on. Is that all there is to it to get the ecu to read the gm iat? For some reason through searching I thought I had to do a lot more...

When I installed my MS into my car I didnt select the any of the options that Megatune offered. I opened a "new project", where I selected no MAF. However I dont have the MSPNP from DIYautotune, I have a MS (Brain) which is prewiered to run the AIT ONLY. I would say try to do it by means of opening a "new project". If that doesnt help your problem shoot a PM to Brain, or Joe.

did you unplug your coils before flashing?

All you need to do is install the new IAT sensor and then flash the NO MAF firmware with the coils unplugged.

You DID flash the no maf firmware right? Just selecting the project fine does nothing. Load the firmware up. COILS UNPLUGGED! Try again. It will remind you to unplug the coils 3 times before it reflashes anyways.
