I have recently been messing around with my new MSPNP2 (getting everything set up) and I was curious about a few things.

First - I have read around on the internet that with megasquirt i should unplug my TPS since it isn't a variable TPS and to set the open/close values at 255.

Should this be something I do with my MSPNP2 or not?


Second - I have started my car once on the megasquirt i have applied the base map, and have set the timing to 10 BTDC. my issue is that the car idles at 2000 +/- rpm from cold to warm. Now i know it could be simply because im running a base map. but i have tried using the idle air screw to turn it down with no help.


Any help/tips or tricks is appreciated.

There is no need to do this with the Gen 2.


Make sure your timing is correct, and check for vacuum leaks.

so can i leave values of 0 for the open/close for the TPS?



The 10 degree's is the initial 10 while setting timing initially. I assume that this could make my idle high? I have checked over and over for vacuum leaks. If i plug everything back to the normal AFM the idle is normal. 900/1000 rpms.

no sputtering like a normal car would if it were stock.

That depends on whether the TPS reading is steady or not - I'd rather have a bit of a spread so it stays steady.

Do you have a data log of the idle and a copy of your MSQ you can post?

I do have a .msq file but its the 3.3.0 base map.

I did not run the logger when i first started the car so i do not have a log.

Update:

I changed the map to use the default timing map just to test it and I created a log file of the data. Please see attached and let me know where else I could look to adjust the idle speed of the miata.

Also, I have tried adjusting with the screw on the throttle body but that does not help at all.

Looks like you've got idle control switched off; change it over to a PWM valve and that should get it working.

Ah I see, I will have to change that and try it. I thought I read somewhere that said the miata was an on/off type or something. Maybe I just read the article wrong.
