retarded noob here... need help with fuel map

I dont know what exactly im looking at, but I dropped my boost down to 8psi just to be safe.

I recently installed my MSPNP for my 94', but I am ECU retarded to the max!

I read the instructions carefully and got the car running, but my AFRs seem rich at 9.4 @ 8psi, at deceleration I get a full 22.4 AFR and I dont want to waste fuel from being unburned...

Can someone direct me to a good configuration for 11psi w/ 460's?
I also have a AFPR, but I bumped it down to the stock pressure of 35-40psi, if that helps, also my afr target map is almost same as :brain: default in his DIYPNP instructions...
:vash:

Aim for 11.5:1 under full boost, scale it down to ~13.5:1 at 100kpa, then 14.7:1 below that. The 22.4:1 under decel is probably as lean as the sensor will read and the injectors should be on overrun shutdown.

EDIT: Just to be clear, don't make abrupt changes on the map, smooth it out. And for the lower part of the map the goal is to have it 14.7:1 in all the cells you would normally cruise in.

Are these correct in anyway?

The AFR's look fine, is the Wideband hooked up to the MS? If so get tuner studio and win.

Pen2_the_penguin 03-17-2011 06:44 PM

Just realized under megatune's basic settings, I never changed EGO sensor type from narrowband to wideband... would this cause open loop to be retarded like me?

DammitBeavis 03-17-2011 07:30 PM

That would cause your readings to be wrong, but shouldn't change reality unless you've been tuning based on the readings.

Get TS I think its simpler to use and the auto tune function works quite well.

Pen2_the_penguin 03-18-2011 03:33 AM

Just a quick question, what should my AFR setting be in the required fuel calculator for 460s and a stock motor? I thought I had it set for 14.7...

I will get TS soon... you can count on that.

Pen2_the_penguin 03-22-2011 08:47 PM

its still being retarded, im retarded, and I dont know what to do anymore...

Is it possible and not too much trouble for someone to send me a .msq to run?

I think my map is so screwed up right now I have to start over.

Techsalvager 03-22-2011 08:52 PM

did you check out diyautotunes startup maps they have for 460cc injectors?
I started with those and they worked good, of course I had to tune them to my setup but overall worked well to get going.

Pen2_the_penguin 03-23-2011 12:10 AM

I was unaware they had start up maps according to injector size... where can I find these?

The only maps I have is the start-up map that came with the MSPNP disk and my last tuned for 5psi before it got stupid.

Techsalvager 03-23-2011 12:46 AM

oh sorry didn't realize you were on mspnp which is ms1 iirc, they do have them for diypnp which is ms2.

do you have a log of your current stuff and your msq?

Here we go, this is what worked for my 5-6psi, but gets stupid around 8+ psi:crx:

rbluemx6 03-23-2011 03:11 AM

Try a reqfuel of 5.2ms. That's what I have on my diypnp from brain for rx7 460s.

you didnt use the calculator, just manually did that? Hey im willing to try anything... to an extent.

Braineack 03-23-2011 08:22 AM

the Req_fuel value isn't going to make or break you. It simply rescales the values you enter in the VE table. So you don't go below 0, or above 255.

Techsalvager 03-23-2011 08:34 AM

hmmm use 6.2ms instead of 6.7ms to scale it down a tad and datalog next time to show us log of whats happening

Techsalvager 03-23-2011 10:42 AM

just noticed overboost protection is set at 152kpa which is around 7.25psi

oh snap! i hope thats the issue:bowrofl:

Because thats seems to be whats happening, it super retards and goes uber rich when I hit around 7-8psi... we will see.

As for fuel, I only know a small amount of what im doing, but I am learning...
hell I grew up around muscle cars, without computers... thus why I got a mspnp in the first place and taking auto tech classes

Also, how do I make a log? :loser:

Also a question about the internal map sensor, I came a crossed a warning in megatune that the sensor needs to be calibrated or something.... or the Kpa could be off. How do I calibrate it or do I need to calibrate it, at idle it reads around 30 or so kpa.

So it seems my fuel tables are alright from what I understand, so if this boost protection is my problem, after that its autotune and tuner studio?

If I had a better understanding I could take advantage of my MTX wideband software to make fuel maps too... but that shit confuses me as well.

Techsalvager 03-23-2011 08:32 PM

stop using megatune
Download tunerstudio instead and use it

http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/

Once TS is installed, let it autodetect the ECU by creating a new project if it doesn't show you a dialog box before hand.
Also make sure you select proper wideband if the wideband is hooked into the MSPNP and proper map sensor

After so go up to datalogging and click that, click start logging, click stop logging when you want to stop that logging session or done driving the car.

Make sure one log is done without tuning durning the log session, perferable a before and after log.
