Timing questions
2 Attachment(s)
So i replaced my spark plugs the other day and I went to fix the tach problem on my miata(95M and COP) in MS and while the car was running, I was in the ignition setting options(I know that isnt the right place to be). I was looking thru and somehow changed something and all of sudden the car shut off and wont start now. Anyone have any idea what happened and why. I have changed alot of the settings to see if that was the problems

pull up an old tune and compare to the current tune. difference will be hilighted
|
Spark output should be "going high" and you should NOT be running with ignition fixed at ten degrees, change it to use the spark table.
|
So I tried to put the old tunes in and still no luck. I checked all the fuses, checked for fuel, checked spark all good. Just nothing. Any other thoughts?
|
Please post a copy of the tune that's in there and a data log of an attempted start.

Here are a couple datalogs. Any ideas will help
Thanks Ross |
It's not seeing RPM. It would help if you also posted the MSQ file so I can check if there are any settings that would prevent it from reading RPM. Also, check the CAS wiring.

Here you go. It is reading the Tach now.

Your coolant temperature is showing freezing. Check the sensor, wiring, and calibration.

I have an aftermarket coolant temp gauge, that is not running to the MS.

OK so i have the sensor still in, that goes to the ECU. I hooked up the aftermarket gauge to where the temp sensor goes to the dash board. Ill check the temp sensor going to the ecu. Any other ideas?

Fixed coolant temp sensor. Here are the new datalogs.

OK, one problem down. Next check fuel pressure.
|
Isn't that what the fuel load gauge show on the MS, good fuel pressure?
|
72psi on crank
|
That's way too high.
|
Are you confusing fuel load for fuel pressure? Fuel load is map pressure in a speed density setup.

What do i need to do to fix the pressure? |
So did some more research and tested a couple things
-fuel pump works and is delivering fuel spark plugs smell like fuel. -spark plug gap is good -COP coils getting power -went into MS and calibrated sensors, TPS, IAT ETC yes the coils show them getting power with a multimeter. Not sure if i should pull them out and physical look and see if the spark plug is sparking. Any other ideas would nice? Thanks guys |
It's either a blocked return line or a failed regulator.
|
My buddy came over to help out and the spark plugs are not sparking. I know there is power to the COPs. What would need to be changed in MS or check on the car to see if that is the issue?
